Nurse is just another word to describe a person strong enough to tolerate everything and soft enough to understand everyone. Before starting my research on nursing I knew many things about it one being, a lot of communication with doctors and patients. Nurses play a significant role and many people’s lives from saving them, helping them heal, and getting patients and their families, through hard times. For example a patient may be dying of cancer and the family will need some guidance on what to do, and what treatments are possible in the meantime. I discovered that nurses must coordinate care, in collaboration with a wide variety of health care professionals. In doing so there are many procedures that they must follow. Nurses perform exams, provide health promotion, and administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions (MS Choices). Many people have reported that nurses have to stand, walk, and run one third of the time. They are also exposed to diseases and infections more than once a month through work such as patient care, laboratory work, and sanitation control. I have learned that there are proper ways to handle certain situation like washing hands to keep yourself and everyone around protected there are many different fields one could venture off into like neonatal nurse, emergency room nurse, prenatal nurse, and a critical care unit nurse and each once play a huge role in any medical facility. Next, I researched the employment outlook for a nurse. As a nurse there are many requirements depending on the occupation. A registered nurse must be an active listener, good communication skills, and learning strategies. Different levels of education are also needed. They help to decide the patient’s medicine, treatment, recovery, and educate the them and their families on post-medical treatment. They need to have bedside manner, and be able to prepare patients for surgery. Registered Nursing careers range anywhere from critical care, oncology, mental health, to an everyday school nurse.
I am choosing a career in nursing because it’s a career that will allow me to save people’s lives, bring happiness, and comfort to those in need. Nursing has a rich history. It has provided services to the American people and the world for a long time. I want to be a nurse because I believe that a nursing career is very gratifying and rewarding in terms of the joy it brings. Nursing will provide me with a special set of skills and training that will not only improve my life, but the lives of people in need.
In the future, there will need to be more people in this career because nurses are needed all the time there is never enough nurses in one hospital let alone all the hospitals in different parts of the world. Changes in the job requirements can make the job change in many ways. If the job requirements change by checking test scores throughout a high school career. After college the next checkpoint to accomplish is whether the emergency department is the place to work. Due to hospital care reaching an all-time high in America, we need nurses now more than ever before. Currently in America, we have an issue with nurses having too many paperwork to fill out. Which One Is the Best - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)? Nursing profession is the second highest in demand in the world. It's also one of the most diverse one, and is categorized according to education, experience, and skills. A nurse can do 20 different types of nursing jobs with a minimal education of High School Diploma, or a bachelor's degree in nursing. But out of those many nursing jobs, LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) and RN (Registered Nurse) are the most common ones.
It also provided me with hands on experience. I learned how to take basic care of patients. Even though I did not want to become a nurse, I wanted to work my way up because I believe that to become a doctor, I should be able to delegate duties of the people who work under a physician. During my time there, I learned how to make hospital beds, give bed baths, change patient’s clothes, and other common duties of a nursing assistant.

Nursing is a career pathway that continuously grows each day. Every day, there are numerous individuals who suffer and battle to survive each day. Researchers are constantly studying and looking for solutions to cure illnesses. We will always need people in this world who strive to learn the knowledge required to do this.
I always try not to think about careers and college, but because of this project I really learned a lot during the research. Most of my relatives are being registered nurse. My mother too is currently studying for NCLEX test. So I have a glimpse of what they do as a nurse. But still my knowledge still lacking.
My nursing career started right after high school. My mom suggested that I should take C.N.A class to have basic knowledge regarding health care. Nursing becomes interesting that I didn’t stop with the C.N.A class, I continue studying nursing and earned my licensed as a vocational nurse. I graduated from Cerritos college fall 2012, and then I worked as a medical-surgical nurse for three years. Now, I’m currently working full time in ambulatory care specialty clinic.
RNs are required to complete at least 2 years of formal education and obtain a state license in order to work in a nursing capacity. Most of the RNs earn associate degrees or bachelor’s degrees in nursing. Nurses may work in hospitals, home health care clinics, private physicians’ offices, nursing care facilities and Gov. Hospitals or urgent care nurses may be required to work evenings, weekends, holiday shifts, since most facilities of that type are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. People in the medical field get to work with people and they get to make people happier and also help them directly. Nursing, a Life Long Career Graduating from college in May of 2012 and passing her boards and receiving her license only two months later Shera Hoy a nurse at my community’s local doctor office has had an extremely successful start to her nursing career, that will hopeful last a long time. From a very young age Shera knew that she wanted to be a nurse when she grew up. Growing up with a bother who had very serious health issues and autism, she wanted to learn more about not only the disease itself, but about nursing and caring for people as a whole.
It is a well-known fact in any healthcare system that the backbone to medicine and the real players in any healthcare organization are the nurses. In a patient’s visit or hospitalization time, the nurse is the one person on staff that spends most of the time with the patient. From the beginning of their admission to their discharge, nurses become experts on each individual’s case. Despite the great amount of time spent by nurses on patients, it was determined that nurses still spend only 37% of their time on patient care. The rest of that time is pend on paperwork and other unrelated tasks (Westbrook, Duffield & Creswick, 2011).

To become a nurse and work in the clinical setting as 82.2% of nurses do (AUSTRALIA’S FUTURE HEALTH WORKFORCE – Nurses, 2014) legally they must first become a registered nurse.
