I believe that I have learned many useful lessons this semester. At the start of this semester I honestly did not know how to write a proper essay. There were several big problems with my writing style. My poor grammar and lack-luster writing skills were a real problem. I feel more confident now that I have written some decent papers and come close to completing my first English class. I feel like I have made a lot of progress in this course. I believe that I am better prepared for future writing assignments. This semester I believe that I have learned how to write better, how to incorporate source material, and how to write in MLA format.
This semester I believe that I have considerably improved my writing skills. At the start of this course I could barely write a coherent paragraph. I believe that I can now write a passable academic essay. I have grown much more confident in my writing skills. This class has been exceptionally helpful in teaching me how to write properly. It seems hard to believe that I could not write an MLA style paper at the start of the semester. Now, after I have spent so much time forcing the rules into my head, it feels second nature to write in this style. There seemed like way too many rules to keep up with them all. Double spacing, precise margins, and a specific way to orient the pages seemed difficult. And while there was definitely a learning curve, it turned out to be fairly simple. But all it took was a little practice to become proficient. Just one more little lesson that I have learned to make me a better
Why Comp I is So Valuable I believe that there are several reasons why Composition I is a valuable course for college students to take. Some of the reasons Comp I is so valuable are 1) it improves your writing skills, 2) it teaches us the different types of writing, and most importantly 3) it teaches us to manage our time wisely and effectively. Without the course Comp I, I believe that students wouldn’t be prepared or as prepared to take on the real world. Writing skills are something that most people don’t just have.
I learned a lot from each essay and assignment I did, which I believe has helped me to be a better
I do realize I have a lot to learn but anytime I write better than I did the essay before that is a success. So, to any future students if you are here every day and participate you will be successful this class is organized to make sure when you start writing the essays you are well prepared from all the invention techniques. I feel my style has broadened because every essay I write feels easier and more professional. My attitude about writing is better as well I am no longer afraid of writing an essay or communicating via email with another professor or some other professional resource.
I came into my first college writing class feeling prepared thanks to you and your investment in me as a student in your AP Lang class. I developed as a writer more than I ever had in your class, and it definitely helped me in my college writing class this semester. I already knew how important it was to revise and continuously critically think about my writing, as well as the importance of multiple drafts and peer review. My English 110 class this semester was very similar to yours because we also did multiple drafts where I could revise my paper as many times as needed. The big difference was that the focus was on different genres and how to appeal to those, which was something new compared to my high school English courses.
With my written essays, I simply revised the essays as I wrote. So, I assert that this course has helped me learn to manage my writing efforts a bit
In my future, I hope to continue the skills I have acquired during this English class. I think that they will be very obliging to me, nevertheless of what I am trying to achieve. In this course, I was encountered with deadlines, instructions, and assignments that I could not work around. I found that all of these responsibilities have made me comprehend that I could definitely take the next step forward in life.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
Being a part of this course has helped me improve my writing in different areas such as my grammar, editing, and planning. Being that, when I got back my teacher 's essay edited the first thing I noticed was all my grammar and my paragraph structure were all off. As a result, after I turn my essays in I always review my paragraphs and sometimes I even ask my friends to read over my essays to see if I need to improve either my paragraph structure, thesis or conclusion. Having the opportunity to write a variety of different essay styles has challenged me to improve my writing techniques even slightly. Having good credible sources was another technique I learned and improve. For most of my work, I used to go to Google, and just type whatever it is I was looking for, and usually I do not end up with that much great information. Now I start searching for information in databases because they are credible and more reliable.
I originally thought it was all just writing papers to improve our skills rather than do exercises that actually help us. I think this class gave me a great foundation to build off of in the future and to fine tune my writing skills in college and the future. I think this class for me has really opened my eyes to how lazy of a writer I was because I didn 't take the time or put the effort in. During this class I have improved in countless ways that will be needed to be successful in the next level of education. While I do know some of the rules, due to my previous English teachers in school, there is still much that I do not know. But, through the course of this past semester I have learned a great deal about different and new rules. This class has taught me a great deal about writing and how to correctly write an essay. Writing is a system of many rules and is a way for people to express their creativity. This class has given me much room to express myself creatively and gain more knowledge.
My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. This course has helped me realize that there are many steps and skills involved with writing a well-organized and easy to comprehend essay.
There are other areas in my writing that I have improved on. I have improved on my grammar, verb constructions, use of verb tenses and organizational skills to make my writing flow better when reading. My overall progress in completing this ten weeks course was wonderful. College is full of experience and to get that experience students need to get involved in campus and use all the resources that their campus offer. For my first semester at university I learned lots of information that helped me go through my first semester and I will keep using this resources until I graduate. and these resources are not just for school but also for my personal life. The first thing I have learned in college is how to manage my time and it's important to know that skill so that I would not waste time doing nothing and get schoolwork done and it won’t make me stressful because I have many assignment and project to do. and to always get done with my priority first which is my school work.
