As a person who strives to achieve for the best, being a part of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) would clearly elevate my position beyond what I have achieved. The society consists of outstanding students who have the characteristics from the 5 everyday pillars of NJHS- scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. As a junior in high school, I was inducted into the National Honor Society for doing exceptionally well in my academic endeavors and actively participating in volunteer events. My contributions through this organization have made a significant impact on both my personal development and my community’s support services. Pouring a cup of hot chocolate and grabbing a bag of popcorn was best decision I made all day. Instead of watching the last JV football game of the year, I decided to help the concession stand disperse food and beverages to the community. Giving a little to my community brought me gratitude even though I did not benefit from it. Working for good causes was all I needed for choosing to work over spectating a game. Helping the community is one attribute I would like to continue and joining National Honors Society would allow me to do this.

Since I entered high school, I have pursued this by taking all honors classes and any Advanced Placement classes offered to me each year. Through my experience as a second year student at the University of New England, I have always been determined to be a leader to and a supporter of my peers. Some qualities that show that I am worthy of the Sophomore of the Year Award includes: Leadership: While a student at UNE, I have dedicated most of my free time to the development of programs on campus such as UNE’s Crew Team, UNE’s Housing Staff as well as The USG Sophomore Class Representative. As a member of UNE’s Crew Team, I have encouraged 6 students who are only involved with one other club to join crew and stay active. Without a good amount of rowers, only a few of our 7 new boats would be filled.
