Gun violence is a public health hazard, just like smoking, car accidents, and drunk driving. In the United States, nearly a day goes by without someone becoming a victim of gun violence. Every time a high school shooting rampage occurs, right-leaning media pundits dust off their old-fashioned rhetoric and try to explain away the problem. They don’t even bother to think about who the audience would be for their trite talking points; therefore, they are always the same: guns don’t kill people, a good armed guy vs. a bad armed guy, the Second Amendment, and so on and so forth. It is a problem that we all risk, a problem that we all share, and one that we can all help to solve. Taking action to prevent gun violence might take time, and there are several options available. Some people believe that fighting for policy or political change is the best way to go. That is not, however, our only option; there is always something we can do. Let's say we take five minutes at the dinner table to talk about gun violence prevention with your parents. If you have an hour, share your social media conversation with your friends. If you just have one day, you could try to raise money for victims of gun violence or their families through charities or crowdfunding. It has affected society and out youth negatively in the past and will continue to affect the country as a whole if nothing is done about it. The country is in mourning due to the recent influx of gun violence related crimes. There are common-sense reforms that either side can agree on. These include improvements to backgrounds checks, revisions of the Second Amendment that accommodate the modern innovations to firearms and reinstating the Center for Disease Control's research on gun violence.
Im assuming that no one in here will ever go out and commit a violent crime involving a firearm. However i cant guarantee that some people we are around everyday will not be involved in a violent crime. I'd like to tell you today why gun control should not be put into large scale effect . I'd like to bring up the number of violent crimes involving firearms in the united states in the year of 2013 before the bulk of the gun control movement had started (refer to chart). IN the year 2013 there were 16,121 homicides nation wide and out of that number 11,208 of them were caused by a firearm of those deaths approximately 750 of the murders were committed with an illegally owned firearm which shows that you do not have to be a felon that is unable to possess a firearm in order to take someones life with one.

Gun violence has been an outgoing social issue that has only gotten worse through the passing of the years. School shootings has become a common factor of the abuse of gun violence. Throughout the years, many young innocent lives have been taken away from a misuse of firearms. For instance, there is the Sandy Hook and Uvalde school shootings where innocent children on a normal day of school their lives were taken away. In both mass shooting about a total of 48 victims’ lives were taken away (Chappell.)
