Our world today revolves around one thing, technology. There’s no denying it controls most of our lives and has changed the dynamic of this world. Technology has hurt Generation Z because it has hurt their ability to interact with one another, as well as contributing to growing obesity rates, and increased bullying primarily through social media. Generation Z’s ability to interact with one another and have proper social skills has seen a tremendous spike since the introduction of technology into everyday life. Since the technology spike of the 21st century, “the number of adults who describe themselves as lonely has doubled.” This is in large part due to people having many friends in the online world, but very few interactions in the real world. Devices have become a distraction and created uncomfortable situations whether it be at dinner, walking down the street, or at a game. “People today check their phone every 6 minutes, or 150 times a day.” Any time a person feels slightly uncomfortable, they will instantly get out their phone in an attempt to relieve themselves of an awkward situation. Before a person can blame technology for obesity they need to understand some basic facts. “More than 500 million adults worldwide are obese.” “The United States has the highest percentage of obese adults” at nearly 34 percent. More people every year became more obsessed with technology, and with that, more sitting around and more weight gain. Whether it's staring at a phone screen, playing video games, or spending copious hours in front of the TV, people are not as active as they were before Technology. No longer do people go outside to play catch but rather watch other plays catch on tv. With technology traditional values have gone out the door and contributed to an increase in obesity among
Technology has improved communication by giving people real time updates, being able to communicate and interact with others worldwide faster. Although communication can be beneficial, there are negative effects as well. As Clarisse addresses the reality of society to Montag she explains that “No one has time any more for anyone else” (Part1 Page 11) anymore. Technology has caused isolation, obesity, lack of social skills, depression, increase in bullying, and pollution. With the internet being available at home, many tends to go on their devices than interacting with
Technology Helps Creates Social Isolation Peter D. Kraft Evans high school Technology Helps Create Social Isolation The effects that technology have on our society in which it can cause social isolation was observed in this paper. The book, Fahrenheit 451, relates to the point on how their society ended up due to their obsession with technology. Also, research found that people who use technology are proven to spend less time with other tasks like spending time with their family or even going to sleep. In contrast, an article argues that things such as social media and the internet help increase social interaction in real life because it can help us connect as one. Technology has always had an important role in our generation.
Whichever way the outcome of obesity decides to turn in American, there is one industry that would always benefit from people being obese. This industry is known as the American Health Care industry. No matter where the obesity epidemic may lead us, rather it increases or decreases, these companies will profit no matter what. On one end, health companies rack up big bucks in the treatment of obese patients. This is due to the constant medical visits, the frequent use of medications, and the all-around health issues, that all derive from people being overweight.

Sometimes people use television to forget about a hard time at work, others using phones in public, causing lack of communication with people nearby. “Little by little, technology has become an integral part of the way that people communicate with one another and has increasingly taken the place of face-to-face communication. Due to the rapid expansion of technology, many individuals fear that people may be too immersed in this digital world and not present enough in the real world,”. People, especially in the United States, spend so much time on the internet they get separated from their real life and don't know what’s going on around them. Not only does Technology take away from everyone's real life, but it also distances people from family and friends.
Today life is on the fast track. People are always on the go and don’t have time to properly take care of themselves or their families. For most Americans, fast food and junk food are ready to grab for a snack or a quick dinner. They don’t slow down to think about how the foods they are eating effect their long term health. Fewer and fewer families take the time to prepare a nutritious meal and are passing down bad habits to their children.
Childhood obesity is a problem. Today, approximately one out of every three American children have a BMI that qualifies as overweight or obese. These children experience a wider range of health problems in adolescence that can become devastating in adulthood (“Overweight in Children”). In schools across the nation, steps have been taken to combat this epidemic. A common step to take in schools is the banning of “competitive foods and beverages (CFBs),” snacks and drinks sold in schools outside school lunch programs.
Obesity is a startling problem in the United States with over one-third of the population being overweight and costing an estimated 147 million dollars annually while being the leading cause of preventable death not to mention that this problem could be curbed through diet, exercise, and in the most extreme circumstances, surgery. One of the ways of starting to lose weight, and it does not even require special foods, is to simply just eat less. In the modern age, it is increasingly made easy to count calories, record food consumed, and have a log that records everything down to the very vitamins in the food. With smartphones, a person can carry their log around with them the entire day and have quick and easy access to it.
Obesity has been a majority issue in America, it has increased sharply over the years. Of course, each individual loses weight differently but actually going forward with is the hard part. I know I am not obese, however; it is still good to know over time you slowly gain weight. I must make small changes to help me in the long-run with my health. I am interested to know which method is best for someone to lose weight when they are obese.
Obesity is one of the leading causes to major health issues like diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic condition that comes in two different types. Type one diabetes is hereditary and type two diabetes is caused by obesity. Type one diabetes is when your pancreas does not produce insulin. Type two diabetes is when your pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin or your body can’t take in or absorb the insulin.

According to Lindsey Craig in her article “Technology -- we all love it and we all use it, but how is it affecting us?” she stated that “Technology is making us more alone, because instead of interacting with our friends in person, we are dependent on using our phones or tablets. Turkle talked about how technology is so much easier to communicate with a friend, co-workers, and family likewise, it helps people to stay in touch with one another. With technology people prefer to shoot a text rather than calling on the phone or talking face to face. The author mention about how technology isolate people from one another because people are more focus on their phones, laptops etc that they don’t have the time to communicate with each other.
