The idea of choosing a career to do for the rest of your life is scary, but I still found a career that I would love to go in to, pharmacy. I understand that achieving the degrees and the license is easier said than done, but I know I can accomplish anything if I give it my all. There are many factors that stand out to me about being a pharmacist. Helping and working directly with people, job mobility, stability, and flexibility, and being a part of the health community are all reasons that contribute to why I would like to be a pharmacist. UNC-Chapel Hill is the college that I have chosen to help me get to this profession because it has everything I'm looking for and more.

I have always had somewhat of an interest in the medical field, but I never wanted to become a physician or pediatrician. A pharmacist is the perfect in between of being in the medical field but not being an actual doctor. Also, dealing with drugs and medicine has always seemed interesting to me for as long as I could remember. As I previously mentioned, pharmacists have job mobility, stability, and flexibility. Pharmacists are employed everywhere in the country, so it’s very likely that I get a job anywhere. Also, everybody gets sick, and people are going to continue to get sick, so my job will always be stable and secure. After talking with my aunt, who is a pharmacist, I found out that a pharmacist only has to complete a certain amount of hours a week. So I could work 3 days and finish all my hours and have rest of the week off, or I could spread my hours throughout the week. Those aren’t the only reasons I want to go into this profession, I really want to help people get well and feel better. A physician isn’t the only role that helps patients feel better. A pharmacist also has a key role. Pharmacists are healthcare providers that have to communicate with there patients to make sure they can take the medication properly according to their lifestyle, diet, and transportation. The best reason of all is that I get to work directly with patients. Pharmacists are able to see patients anytime during the week, morning, evening, and …show more content…
I would need a 1480 and above on my SAT to have the best chance of getting in, but 1385-1480 still has a pretty good chance as well. The ACT score must be a 33 and above to have my best chance. If I get a score that’s around 30-33, I would still have a pretty good chance. My GPA would have to be a 3.75 or above. Anyone with a GPA lower than that doesn’t have much of a chance at getting in. To become a pharmacist, I need to enter in a Pharm.D. program which lasts four years. I can only enter in the program after at least two years of undergraduate study at UNC, which brings my total years that is takes to become a pharmacist to 6 years. Every program has essentially the same courses: Pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacology. Pharmaceutical chemistry is the use of chemistry to design and evaluate drugs. Pharmacognosy is the study of drugs derived from plants and animals. Pharmacology is the study of the effect of drugs on the human body. All three courses are the basis of pharmacy, and that’s why it is necessary to take them all. The other courses may include Oncology, immunizations, organic chemistry, and principles of pharmacology and medicinal chemistry. The last few courses I listed all depend on what program and college you decide to take part
Physician Assistant help their patients by giving them prescriptions, and asking them to visit the clinic often to see if the medicines they provided are working. They will also ask if the patient would like to set up meetings to help get their health on the
When becoming a physician 's assistant you must always be attentive to your grades even when in high school. This is simply because it is a very competitive course to be accepted into. If you plan on entering into the physician 's assistants program there are prerequisite courses throughout high school that you should be applying yourself if possible. These courses include chemistry and biology which is usually taken in your sophomore or junior years. Another would be anatomy and physiology which in high school is offered as an elective course and sometimes offered as a college credit if payed for.
They have great nursing programs too. They have a lot of programs you can take to become a Nurse Practitioner. They have classes where you get to go work and see what the nurses do. You will receive a Masters Degree. You also have to do great in High School to go to this college.
It’s always been said to do an occupation that one loves and enjoys going to every single day. I’ve debated the different occupations in the medical field and decided on a physician assistant. A physician assistant requires medical experience, hard work, and lots of dedication. These are all three things I’m willing to do in order to succeed at this job.
My ideal job would be to become a Physician Assistant. A PA is a health care professional who provides health care within the medical portion as part of a team with physicians and other providers. PA’s are concerned with preventing and treating human illness and injury by providing health care services under the supervision of a physician. Sometimes the only way they can practice their medicine is to have a license. This career would require a lot of schoolwork for me; it is required that I obtain a masters degree in Master Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS).
More importantly, I become fascinated with the field. Pharmacy appeals to me as an intriguing and promising occupation. More importantly, it is also a noble profession. I’m currently volunteering at Massachusetts General Hospital. I started off volunteering in the department of patient escort services and then I was transferred into the emergency room.
I am not just interested in becoming a Physician Assistant; I dream of, and am driven to become one. I have been fascinated by the medical field as long as I can remember. I had the opportunity to begin scribing for a physician and absolutely loved the patient interaction, the variety of duties that had to be accomplished and the fact that for some people a fifteen to twenty minute appointment may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of a day or life, but to those who were being seen, their lives are instantly changed for the better. I learned such a vast amount of knowledge every single day I worked there. I grew to love the medical field more and more and am confident I was meant to work my hardest to be able to provide care to patients as my life occupation; specifically rural areas like the one I grew up in.
When we were all younger, most of us had an idea of what we wanted to be when we grew up. Whether it was a firefighter or president, we all had our future planned out. But once we got older and entered high school, plans changed. For me personally, I changed my mind a couple of times before I made a decision about what I wanted to do with my life. I decided that I wanted to go to Parkland College and get my degree in Dental Hygiene.
As a hospital pharmacist you are expected to be an expert in the field of medicines, how they are used and their various effects on the human body. As hospital pharmacist you will be responsible for dispensing prescriptions, purchasing medications and quality testing of medicines. Hospital pharmacists may also manufacture medicines, as in some extreme cases a medicine will need to be tailor made for an individual patient. B. Advantages: Clinical aspects
Working in different settings and meeting new people that need to be taken care of has always interested me. The job I want to have while I go to college is the very challenging role of a Medical Assistant. Due to the experiences that have happened in my life, I believe that becoming a medical assistant is the best career choice for me. There are many duties and responsibilities I will have as a medical assistant.
The healthcare field allows individuals to help their fellow man in a very profound, impactful way. Caring for someone in the way only a doctor, nurse, or other healthcare professional can is a very unique, fulfilling experience. Therefore, I plan on becoming a physician. In order to fulfill this dream, I will be required to complete courses of study on both an undergraduate and graduate level. First, it is my goal to earn a degree in biochemistry after undergraduate schooling at a university that will allow me to earn a state-of-the-art education while participating in activities such as research and study abroad.
The profession I have chosen to pursue is that of a Physician Assistant. My reason for this selection is because it gives you the independency of a Physician while having somewhat less responsibilities. A Physician Assistant provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. Some of these services include but are not limited to examining and treating patients, diagnosing illnesses and counseling patients. In some case physician assistants are also tasked to prescribe medicine to patients.
After researching and thoroughly exploring the profession of physician assistant, I would still seriously consider becoming one. Even though there is little room for advancement beyond straying onto another career path, it seems like a very secure, appropriately salaried, interesting, and rewarding position in the medical field. Pharmacists oversee everyone in the pharmacy and therefore must be able to communicate with their subordinates appropriately and efficiently (“What Pharmacists Do”). It is their job to facilitate a good relationship between all their coworkers in order for the pharmacy to run smoothly and resolve any issues that may come up (Christakis 1,3). Pharmacists interactions through interpersonal communication keeps the workplace running smoothly. My overall academic and working experiences in the past have prepared me to be an
