The Elements of the Research Questions and Hypotheses for a Proposed Study
A qualitative study states the research questions. It does not frame the specific goals for the research, nor does it predict the outcome (Creswell, 2014). The research questions are in two forms: a central question and associated subquestions. A central question is “a broad question that asks for an exploration of the central phenomenon or concept in a study” (2014). The intent is to explore the general, complex set of factors surrounding the central theme. Some guidelines for writing qualitative research questions are: ask no more than five to seven subquestions, relate the central question to the specific qualitative strategy of inquiry, begin the research questions

This question focuses only on the dependent variable. It does not relate or compare the dependent variable with the independent or control variables.
Inferential Research Question: What is the most effective storage method of fava beans to obtain the maximum amount of L-dopa? The variable for this question is the amount of L-dopa, while the group is the fava bean storage method. The question aims at quantifying the amount of L-dopa that can be extracted from different forms of fava beans, thus asking which form is most effective. It relates the independent and dependent variables.
Script: The purpose of this experiment will be to test the amount of L-dopa extracted from the fava beans based on various storage methods and determining which method preserves the most L-dopa within the fava beans. The independent variables will consist of different forms of fava beans: fresh, canned, and frozen. Fava beans are similar to lima beans. Next, the dependent variable will be the amount of L-dopa extracted from the fava beans. Finally, the controls will consist of the experimental approaches taken, such as, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography, which measures the amount of

First, the person would ask why they take an on-line course. Then, the researcher would quantify the results by measuring the occurrences of responses. Finally, the responses are converted into percentages and the relationship between variables is examined. The goal of the study is to find the most prevalent answer and determine the stressors an average student experiences. For example, the most common answer could be that people need to work full-time in order to afford to attend classes. This does not leave sufficient time to attend class; therefore, adding stress on the student to maintain decent grades, while being proficient at
The data observed and recorded in this lab shows that the concentration of miracle gro’ does affect the growth rate and germination speed of black eyed peas. The data is shown through two graphs and two data tables. The control group in this experiment is the seeds with a 0% concentration of miracle gro’, therefore the seeds with just water. The experimental groups are different concentrations of miracle gro’ including a 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30% concentration. The variable in this experiment is the amount/concentration of miracle gro’.
a biology class wants to perform an experiment to investigate the effect of different colors of light of green, yellow, red and clear cellophane and plant three seeds in each one. What part do the three seeds experiment? A,Confounding variables B.Independent variables C.Control variables D.Dependent variables 40. Iodine directly helps which of the following glands to function properly?
With both the student and teacher having three less classes a day cuts down on stress. It also cuts down on the homework load for the student. Teenagers have a lot of responsibilities. Many high school students find it hard to manage their time and balance all of their activities. Many are involved with work, sports, bands, clubs, and many other activities.
Executive Summary: There were three brands of garbage bag rolls: Limp-o-Lixo (Ad-Lider), Dover Roll (Fort Roll) and Koleta (Colmag). Ad-Lider Embalagens, SA was planning on introducing a new product line of handled garbage bags named as Fecha Facil. They wanted to know the preferences of target audience so that the impact of such attributes can be used for the deduction of success rate for Fecha Facil. Since a huge amount was invested into this product, thus they wanted a good return as well. The research conducted was comprised of mainly individual and focus group interviews in the market to be tested.
Starch solution is then placed into the test tube at a quantity of 5 mL. 5 drops of Lugol’s Iodine solution is added to the test tube. If the color changes, then it is known that starches are present in the solution. Proteins are next tested. In order to do this, 5 mL of gelatin solution is added to the test tube. 10 drops of Biuret’s reagent are added to test for protein.
1. To make sure the care and treatment can continue to be given safely no matter which staff are on duty, 24 hours a day, seven days a week 2. To record the care that has been given to the patient/client 3. To make sure there is an accurate record to be used as ‘evidence’ when there is a complaint from a patient/client about the
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to find the percent composition of sugar in gum, and how it differs based on the brand of gum, by using the percent by mass. Hypothesis: If two separate brands of gum are masticated, in which is based on Trident and Orbit Gum, then the mass of the sugar/ the percent composition of the sugar in the gum would be the same, because the amount of sugar and sugar alcohol used in the gum are the same, based on the nutritional facts provided. Variables: Independent Variable: The Brand of Gum Dependent Variable: Percent of Composition of Sugar in Gum / Mass of Sugar (in g) Controlled Variables: The Amount Sticks of Gum, The Flavor of the Gum, Materials: ~
Independent Variable pH 3. Controlled Variables temperature, amount of substrate (sucrose) present, sucrase + sucrose incubation time Effect of Temperature on Enzyme Activity 1. Dependent Variable amount of product (glucose and fructose) produced 2. Independent Variable temperature 3. Controlled Variables pH, amount of
They need time to grade exams and finalize grades from the previous semester, and they only have a short break between school years (Towler). By the time they do this, they might have less than a week to prepare themselves, their lessons, and their rooms (Towler). This is not an adequate amount of time for the teachers and it could impact students learning as well (Towler). Teachers also might have a hard time collaborating with each other because many of them are on different tracks (Towler). Students on different tracks might be learning completely different, or maybe even opposite lessons due to lack of collaboration between their teachers (Towler).
There are 24 hours in a day, 8 of those hours belong to school. From the moment when a student wakes up, they begin to prepare for school then go to school, most schools start around 8:00-9:00 am, so most students get up 1-2 hours earlier to get ready. Students need at least 8-9 hours of sleep to be able to function. With students having after school activities that take up around 2 hours, students are exhausted and when they get home all the want to do is relax, but some of them have responsibilities that they have to do, which gives them less time to relax from a long day of school. On top of having homework students end up staying up late getting all their work done, which cause them to be less focus the next day not allowing the

I learned in this activity how crucial time management skills will be to my ability to complete this course successfully. The analysis from the questionnaire (Table 2) as well as keeping a record of what activities I focus on for a couple of days, opened my eyes to a few areas of improvement. From the patterns observed I could see that most of my time was taken up by work and commitments as well as procrastination. Not being able to juggle theses successful led to irritation and was unproductive. Research suggests that managing ones emotions, being self-aware and self-motivate can be factors for success for a student (Allan, 2009).
Although this could result in students being in school 30 minutes longer it gives them the opportunity to complete some tasks that would cause them stress later that
The purpose of conducting this experiment was to find out which brand of cake mix rises the highest, when it is fully cooked. The hypothesis was, “If cake mix can rise, then the Betty Crocker Brand will rise the highest.” The independent variable was the different brands of vanilla cake mix. The dependent variable was the rise in height of the fully cooked cake. The way that the data was measured was by taking a ruler, and the cake, and measuring the whole cake, from bottom to top.
According to Merriam (1998), positivist or interpretive paradigm aim to produce valid, authentic and trustworthy knowledge of human experiences through ethical. All social researchers is concerned with issues of the credibility of the results produced (Creswell, 1998). Qualitative researchers have different techniques to determine research credibility and trustworthiness (Lincoln & Guba, 1985). Guba (1981) constructs four criteria that he believes qualitative researchers should pursuit in order to have trustworthy study. The four criteria are credibility, transferability, dependability and confirmability.
