Reflecting on values and Principles are considered to be the next part of authentic leadership style. Leadership principles are group of standards used in leading people. Values are leadership principles which are turned into actions. Values are important aspect in an individual’s life. You are person in charge of you happiness. Identifying your values is considered to be the key to self-awareness. The values of the authentic leaders are formed from individual’s personal beliefs. This values and belief arise from parents, Influential people such as Teachers, bosses, friends, siblings, heroes, Religion, Traditions and customs ,Experiences School, University, books, media, etc. I have seen this values and principles in my dad who has been helping some people in our country with his monthly salary. Circumstances makes us learn what is most important for us life, what we will sacrifice in life and what we will compromise in life.

In this generation we are often pushed in extrinsic motivation due to material success and recognition in the society. We always end up comparing what others have and we have such as status, grade, salary etc. I think first a person should get intrinsic motivation over extrinsic motivation because earning something without fulfillment in your life is useless. Intrinsic motivation refers to performing an activity for it own sake and the joy received from it. Extrinsic motivation refers to performing an activity for some external reward, such as money or food. Between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, there are five levels of motivation, differing by their level of self-determination. First is amotivation, in which an athlete has no extrinsic or intrinsic reasons for continuing their sport or activity. Next, external regulation refers to an athlete performing an activity to fulfil an external demand or for an external reward, such as a paycheck.

In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. Papathanasiou et al. (2014, p. 407) outline authentic leadership as the ability to influence the actions and behaviour of individuals to work together to achieve their goals. Additionally, Goffee and Jones (2005, p. 87) describe authentic leadership as a real thing, an attribute that uniquely defines great leaders. Furthermore, they highlight that authentic leaders are highly attuned to their environment and that whilst they retain their distinctiveness they understand how to strongly influence and win acceptance in strong cultures and how to utilise those cultures as a basis for radical change. President Kennedy also displayed attributes of an effective transformational leader in a time of crisis and sought to inspire and encourage the population to develop and achieve their greatest potential.

My leadership philosophy is one driven by emotion. I want to be the leader that makes people feel. I want them to feel as though we are all part of a family and that they are cared about.
