As students, presentations are something that is required in most classes yet, students do not see themselves as public speakers. Throughout high school and now in college, I have had to present material in 80 percent of the classes that I have taken. Presenting was, and still is something that I struggle with no matter how big or how small the group is that I am presenting to. I knew that Public Speaking was a required class for me so, rather than putting it off, I decided to go ahead and get it out of the was as soon as possible. Speaking in front of people is out of my comfort zone. I also decided that it would be best to take this class earlier so that I could have more time to improve my public speaking on my own. Over the past year I have improved more than I could ever imagine; FFA …show more content…
Mr. Marbert told the class that there would be a presentation that would be due at the end of the semester but that this presentation could be completed in groups. I was in a group with two other students and we chose to create an informative presentation about essential oils. The presentation was to be presented at the end of November to the class. Each group member chose a specific topic within essential oils and created PowerPoint slides to go along with their topic. The PowerPoint only had a few bullet points per slide and pictures to accompany each slide. All of the information had to be memorized because no note cards were allowed. I was very comfortable giving this presentation and received a high grade as well.
Over the past year I have grown more than I could ever imagine as a speaker and it was presentations such as those I had to do with FFA, at my church, and at school that helped me to improve me public speaking. I still do not enjoy public speaking but I have grown as a public speaker. I hope that this class helps to further improve my public speaking skills and helps prove to myself that I can speak in front of
From this class, I have learned to work with other people, including students and adults, as well as leading a team, creating ideas, and problem
I chose the topic diesel vs gasoline engine, because I plan on becoming a diesel mechanic, and to help further my education. Another reason I chose this topic was for the many people who are unaware of the new diesel technology. For my advisor I picked Mr. Bedenbaugh, also known as Mr. B. Me and Mr. B worked together for my senior experience, in fact he was the one who helped me decide to make a V8 model engine for my community service. Mr. Bedenbaugh is also my first block teacher, which makes it much easier to ask questions and get the help I need for my senior experience.
Giving a speech whether being for the public or not, offers personal, professional, and public benefits for the individual. The individual might find it easier to obtain a profession, build better relationships amongst peers, or even propel social movements by carefully constructing and delivering a well thought out speech. A speech needs to be excellent in order to do such things; it needs to have a clear concise thesis, a preview statement, a great organizational pattern, supporting material, memory, delivery and good representation of oneself. Thus, during the process of constructing and delivering a speech, one must have those aspects. This will ensure the speaker will deliver a powerful and moving speech.
English 101 was a class that I put off taking my first semester because I knew that this was one of my weakest subjects. As time moved on, my skills improved, even though I always dreaded taking this class, because I had a fear of writing bad papers. I chose to have a positive attitude an open mind about my writing assignments to get the best outcome. I learned to be more organized and set time aside to read the book, write down the key points that I want to address to my paper, then analyze what I’ve written. Nevertheless, by doing this, it helped me to make the appropriate changes when it came time to submit my final drafts.
This transformative journey has not only strengthened my academic skills, but has also instilled in me a passion for effective and meaningful expression. I am confident that the growth I have experienced in this course will serve as a solid foundation for my future endeavors, empowering me to navigate the complexities of language and become a more fluent and persuasive communicator in all aspects of my
This experience was different than my shield speech because of the topic for me it is really easy to talk about the Cowboys but harder to talk about my life so I felt more comfortable up in front of the class sharing information about "America's Team" than I did talking about my life and what is important to me. Something I am going to do next time differently is practice my intro and conclusion so when it comes to speech time I don’t have to look at my note cards and I will be able to just casually talk to the class like I try to do throughout the rest of my speech which sometimes works, but other times it doesn’t. Sometime I might need to share an informed speech is when I am trying to teach someone how to do something because I will have to explain to them why they have to do it and how to do it so it would be kind of like and informative speech.
Each speech was impressive in their right. After speaker number four had gone I knew I was next, and I began to get nervous and thinking about my presentation once again. To my surprise, I forgot my note cards all because I was under prepared,
This may make it look like I had the easiest portion to present but it was actually the contrary. Because I only had two pages of text to analyze meant I only had two pages of text to make my presentation on. This was probably the biggest challenge I faced during this project. Information for the presentation could only come from the text, so I was very limited on information.
I presented a book report in front of my English 3 class and educated the audience about Robert Penn Warren's life and career as a writer, as well give my opinion on the book All the King's Men: one of Warrens most popular. I spoke clearly, used my hands, and gave my facts about the author and book. I learned how calm down and talk in front of the class with confidence. I used creative thinking by presenting with my hands and using body language. My power point was appealing to the eye and was detailed with facts.
and I was confident with my presentation. I have learned things in this short course that I will be able to effectively use the rest of my college career
In my future, I hope to continue the skills I have acquired during this English class. I think that they will be very obliging to me, nevertheless of what I am trying to achieve. In this course, I was encountered with deadlines, instructions, and assignments that I could not work around. I found that all of these responsibilities have made me comprehend that I could definitely take the next step forward in life.

Demonstration Analysis I recently did my demonstration speech on how to make a lava lamp. In my opinion the speech went very well. The specific purpose of my presentation was for my classmates to be able to make their own lava lamp to help them take care of kids they have to babysit. I believe I did a very good job at explaining the procedure of making a lava lamp step by step.
During the two day observations, I had the opportunity to experience how Mrs. Carbone teaches listening, speaking, & pronunciation by incorporating different approaches. During my first observation, the class was a follow up class designed to promote listening skills and oral language development. Mrs. Carbone explained that the class
