Reflective Report based on the leadership experience encountered during the leadership challenge during activity day. On many occasions, there are often times when we are supposed to lead the way. Leadership is the process or the ability of leading a group or organization but does leadership mean only leading the group? There is more than one definition for leadership. I have worked in groups many times in both academic as well as workplace in which I have both followed a leader as well as led a group. However to be certain, do I know all about what it takes to be a leader? The activity day organized by our university helped me to observe, learn and strengthen my leadership skills. It was a great experience for me through which I could be open-minded and …show more content…
We were given papers where we had to mark the items in order of its importance. I did something alike before in my class and from that understanding, I tried to do this one. We did both individual and group separately and from the result, I understood that there were various people in the group who could lead the whole group to a better result but they were not willing to speak upfront. Even if they did not agree with the decision, they did not have the courage to talk to others and just followed what others said. I had an average result, which wasn’t very good. The group result was poor compared to some individual result. Our group members might have trusted eachother too much or felt shy to let their feelings out, but due to this, our team result wasn’t good enough. I believe we could improve on this part and be confident while speaking about what each of us think. It is essential to have 360 feedbacks to make a decision and for this challenge, we didn’t receive personal point of view but rather most of the members just agreed without speaking. Having analyzed these kinds of situations, I now understand how important it is to have everyone’s point of
Even though, the thought of group work scares me because I like working alone. This assignment, with my appointed group was an amazing experience. Analysis: This assignment was difficult and different as a whole.
Leadership in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies The role of a leader is a constant struggle in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. Ralph and Jack, the two emerging leaders in the novel, fight back and forth to gain the discipline of the other boys on the island. They also fight for the power to make the decisions that they feel should be made. Both leaders are similar in their desire for control, yet different in their leadership qualities and their objectives while on the island.
Action Plan In Future, I will make sure that I always take a stand not only for me but also for someone else too so that he/she doesn’t question their ability to take a stand and will never let any such things happen at least around me Problems Here are some problems which we encountered during our group project: 1. Floundering: While we were figuring out the work and were trying to decide everyone’s role in the group, the group work got a bit delayed and some work got postponed. 2.
Leadership is an innovative process that aligns professionals with a goal, objective or vision statement. Leadership is can mean different things to different people. To me, leadership is more than having a title and subordinates. Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.

Within each of us there is a light that drives us, fuels us, and connects us to the world. There has always been a drumming in my heart, pushing me toward releasing my light into the world. For years I lived in fear; attached to the belief that I was not enough, forcing my light to hide inside. When I began working in the non-profit sector I saw a similar light in the youth that I was facilitating. I began to build curriculum and programing to cultivate this light inside each of them.
Use of group goals or group rewards augments the achievement outcomes of co-operative learning if and only if the group rewards are based on the individual learning of all group members (Slavin, 1995). Most often, this means that team scores are computed based on average scores on tests/quizzes which all teammates take individually, without teammates’ help. For instance, in Student Teams Achievement Divisions, or STAD (Slavin, 1994), students work in mixed-ability groups to master material initially presented by the teacher. Following this, students take individual tests/quizzes on the material and the teams may receive grades based on the degree to which team members have improved over their own past performance. For this, it is essential to ensure that all team members have learned, they explain concepts to each other, help each other practice and encourage each other to achieve.

1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time. I consider myself a leader, i believe this because i am the type of person that feels like if i am not the one to do it then it will not be done the right way. Whenever i would work in groups i would designate myself to be the one to do the harder assignment, because i only trusted that would take it serious, not anyone else. Also, whenever i do anything that involves a team, i like to take control, because i feel like i am the best one to work under pressure or i can choose the best solution for any situation.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
While those that work alone don't have the opportunity of being critcized by other work mates, those workers that are in teams can benefit from assessment from their peers. Thanks to the greater sense of responsibility and loyalty that people have when they are working in groups, people are constantly trying to improve the overall performance of their group. Therefore, group members have to constantly bring new ideas and criticisms that might help the group to correct its mistakes and to improve its
LEADERSHIP LESSONS FROM SPORTS What is Leadership? Leadership is defined as the ability to influence a group towards the achievement of a vision or set of goals. The source of this influence may be formal, as happens by organizational hierarchy. However, this does not imply that every manager is a leader or only managers are leaders.
