A Resident Assistant plays a very key part of one’s college experience. They do a lot that you probably won’t even realize until later. Most people simply think of a RA as someone that “breaks up” the party, or doesn’t allow you to be loud during quiet hours, etc. The Resident Assistant does in fact enforce policies (for the respect of everyone), but they do more than just that. The resident assistant tries to make a community among the floor, which can be challenging at times, especially when doors close. They accomplish this by, trying to figure out what everyone is interested in and try to introduce them to a club/organization, or simply a friend with common interests.
