I believe that resources should be available for serviceman and their families the moment of an oath is taken, during their tour of duty, and when they return back to their normal life. Although there are many resources and support out there for military serviceman/woman and their families, accessing and finding the right resources for them is the hard part. For example, when I was doing part one of this assignment I found it difficult to find resources specifically for a serviceman, spouse, and children. To be honest, it took me a very long time to find resources that were relevant and helpful for veterans and active duty serviceman. I am not sure if it’s because it was my first time researching for these resources or there were not as many resources out there than I thought. Therefore, I believe that there should be one main user-friendly portal website that all veterans …show more content…
I thought that this website was very useful because it allowed serviceman and their families to find resources that are available to them installation (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coastguard, etc.) or by a state. If they were looking for a specific programs or services, this website also gave them that opportunity to that and also by zip code. When I was using this website, I found it very helpful because I wanted to find a military base in Los Angles California near where I live and I came across the Los Angles Air Force Base near the LAX airport, which was down the road from where I live and I had no idea that there was a military base there. This website gave me an overview of the population and resources available for serviceman and families who live on this base, such as programs for youths, schools, child development center, therapist/counselor,
The role was to care for wounded veterans, widows and orphans. The American Legion has grown to be the largest veterans’ group in the US with many added roles of service to meet the state and nation. Following World War II, Falmouth Veterans returned to their homes, and in 1946 established by charter
1. First, you must attend a Navy recruit training at the Great Lakes, Illinois Base. 2. Initial training is held at the U.S. Military medical education and training campus, METC (Fort Sam Houston, Texas). 3.
Does the government really take care of our troops when they officially retire from the U.S military? Therefore, I chose this topic. For me personally I think not have a hard time to search for my sources. So far, all of my sources are news reports from different places around the
Having a good understanding of this will brighten your mind on how much they devote their lives to this. When anyone chooses to go into the military, they will spend many months away from their family and loved ones. These vets defend everyone no matter what race, gender, age, or religion and they show that by giving us back the freedom that they fought for. To
Helping our veterans should be mandatory because of their sacrifice. Even though some people believe war veterans acquire enough from the Government, others believe they deserve more for their services. Veterans of the United States of America should not be homeless since they fought for our country with a sense of bravery and commitment. Therefore, the Department of Veterans Affairs should be reconstructed, also expanded to meet the growing need of our veterans.
I chose this topic because everywhere I go, I see veterans, homeless and disabled, standing or slumped in a position of despair and hopelessness. These veterans are the results of fighting for our country and safety and now left in a positions of needing someone to fight for them. That should be the "TOP" priority of our Veteran Affairs Administration and reflected in their webpage. We now have so many veterans from so many different facets of life and ethnic backgrounds that the majority of them absolutely no support or hope. What in being done to encourage, support and direct our non famous and not rich veterans who find themselves in a "you 're served us well
Discharged veterans need more specific and efficient non-criteria based services including transitional services, higher education and homelessness prevention. One way to help veterans transition successfully to civilian life is by having specific and efficient non-criteria based transitional services. For instance, when a vet has been discharged, they
Veteran Benefits The issue of veteran benefits in the United States is not taken as seriously as it should be in our country, even though it is a growing problem that needs to be addressed. The lack of available funding for veterans is especially obvious when compared to that available for lower income citizens, or even illegal immigrants. Also, what does exist appears to fall short in taking care of veteran’s needs. Considering that these veterans are people who have risked their lives fighting for this country, the fact that they are not receiving immediate benefits or even what they have earned is unfair.
The government has provided support for veterans, but it does not reach out to all veterans. Not all veterans come home homeless.
In the recent years, the number of mental health professionals providing for the military has dwindled, there is almost no combat-specific psychologists left, and the wait time to be treated for a mental health issue by the Department of Veterans Affairs has drastically increased. Examining MilitaryOneSource and the Department of Veterans Affairs, two of the most highly regarded military health providers, the lack of mental health services for veterans and active duty members has diminished and has resulted in a multitude of veterans going untreated or even ending their own life instead of receiving the help they
It provides a broad range of the quality and accessibility of primary care, specialized care, related medical and social benefits and services support for Veterans and their eligible beneficiaries, such as vocational rehabilitation, Veterans’
Our Warriors Today there is an outrage in our Veteran community of how terrible the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and their lack of caring and funding for our heroes. In this paper I will give facts on how terrible this problem really is, whether it is our homeless Veterans, Veterans who die waiting for help from the VA because they cannot afford other healthcare, or the horrid waiting times in order to get any help.
Secondly, some veterans will come back from war and if they were shot or experienced heavy damage to the head, they can have severe brain injuries and when they’re homeless and they don’t have much help, that can be horrible for the homeless veterans. Lastly, while veterans are fighting in wars, if they get shot or a grenade goes
In the poem, “What Every Soldier Should Know”, Brian Turner, details the ever-present threat of death in a war zone. This poem expesses not only the terror of the American soldiers, but also exemplifies the emotions that the Middle Eastern soldiers feel towards the American soldiers. The soldiers are experiencing death, chaos, and disorder, but for some of the middle eastern people, they experience that every day. A lot of Middle Eastern people are normal people, defending their home land, their family, and their country.
In the United States thousands of veterans are not able to leave behind the horrors and traumatic events they experience while at war. They bring the war home and have to re-experience it in their minds each and every day, no matter how much time has passed since their last battle or traumatic
