Scholarship Essay Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to work with kids and help people. I kept going back and forth between being a special education teacher, daycare provider, social worker, etc. I thought of so many things, but nothing really seemed right. Then one day I was watching a show, and the woman was a pediatric nurse. I had never thought of it before, but it was perfect! It fit both the things I want to do, work with kids and help people. I think nurses are so important. Without them a hospital would be nothing, and more people would be ill without the proper care they need. Nurses are there to care for the patient, support them, give them hope, and be there for them when nobody else is. Being a nurse definitely will be physically and emotionally draining, but I am up for the challenge! …show more content…
One downside to nursing is that you will often have to work long hours. I think every second of your shift would be worth it knowing that you are helping a sick child. Another downside is the current pay gap between nurses and doctors. I believe that nurses have the tougher job and they should be making equal or more pay. The nurse spends more time with the patient and has the tougher workload. They get to connect with the patient and take care of them. They are the ones that have to perform CPR when a patient flatline’s, they are there when a patient has a seizure, they change the patients bed pan, they make sure the patient gets the proper amount of medication. They do so much more than we even realize. As a nurse you are also putting yourself at risk to help another person. After high school I plan on getting my nursing degree, and then eventually specialize in pediatric nursing. My goal is to help patients in as many ways that I possibly can. This scholarship will help me financially with my college education. Thank you for taking the time to read my essay and consider me for this
My contribution to the mission of Nurse Corps Scholarship Program will not be limited to the help in which is needed. It has always been my desire to help others. Working in the medical field now as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, and as a Direct Care worker for the mentally disabled has trained me to face many different challenges with the correct approach. Also as a Licensed Evangelist Missionary, in my Christian belief, I have had the opportunity to work in the communities helping others in the time of need. With all that I have seen and learned through my work experience and through the church, I will be able to contribute the love, the nurturing, and the comforting of the individual in need while providing the care
I deserve this scholarship because of the ways in which this scholarship will enable me to continue and better my life-long goal to become a pediatric nurse. I plan to attend the college of my dreams, Texas Woman’s University. Before attending, I will need to receive money to keep me on the right track, but I have financial issues. I have two brothers already in college and I am the last and only one left. Because I have two brothers in college, it means less money for me.
Ever since my sophomore year of high school, I knew the medical field was the right choice for me. It wasn’t just the ability to have vast amounts of knowledge about the human body, but to be able to help people. Helping those who need it is a very rewarding idea to me. Although the school I am currently attending is not able to allow me to help people as a nurse. My decision to transfer is based fully on this programs direct entry nursing program.
A good nurse is someone who is compassionate, empathetic, and has a desire to truly want to care for the well being of others. A good nurse is also someone who is knowledgeable and also stays current in the medical field. As an advocate, nurses should empower patients by motivating and encouraging them to be active in their own care, also making sure the patients voice is being heard, and ensuring proper care is being performed in the best interest of the patient. A nurse is also an educator; nurses have the responsibility of educating their patients on their medical condition when the patient does not understand their prognoses. When a patient has a lack of knowledge of the care that is being provided, the nurse also has a responsibility to explain the care and why it will help the patient in the process.
They deal with needles, blood, and several other things that would make me squeamish. For goodness sakes I couldn’t even get through my blood work without passing out let alone do what a nurse
I first established I wanted to pursue a course in adult nursing when I was 11 years old; I had to undergo surgery and had a week-long stay in hospital. The commitment and enthusiasm the nurses had to looking after me as well as going the extra-mile to make me feel secure, happy and support me during my stay. This is the first time I had witnessed what courageous things they do daily and from that moment I felt inspired and I knew that I wanted to be part of a team that supports vulnerable people in their times of need. I hope in the future I can equal their diligence and passion and show that I am here to help and the patients can confide in me. Additionally, this course will allow me to progress to become an adult nurse, therefore will permit me into making a difference in people’s lives daily and there is nothing I find more rewarding then helping vulnerable people in their times of need and improving their quality of life.

I’m very passionate and fascinated with the medical field in all aspects. I strive for excellence, integrity and love interacting with all diversity of people.
I had just graduated from Utica College and like many other recent graduates, was unsure what path my future was on. After graduation I began my search for employment and I was lucky enough to be offered a position at the office of Dr. Howard Terry, cardiologist. This job had everything I was looking for: decent pay, experience working in the medical field, and direct patient care administering EKG’s. For the first few months I thoroughly enjoyed going to work and I relished in the fact that I was being taught many different aspects of cardiology by a well-respected physician such as Dr. Terry.
Nursing is something that is available to a wide variety of people, it is forever changing along with new technology and advancements. I am glad to be a part of something that has come a long way and helps so many
It made me realized the difference I made in their lives, which also made me wanting to do more. I then came to the realization that nursing will best suit my compassion. Working as a home health aide helped me realized that nursing is the only profession I want to pursue. As a result, I believe my interpersonal skills would enable me to be a competent and caring Nurse.
One will coordinate with patient care, monitor the patient’s management, take vital signs, provide medication, prepare patients for exams, and work with medical teams. Working as a registered nurse, or any nurse can be rewarding. The greatest advantage of becoming a registered nurse, is probably earning hands on experience with patients. One should have clear communication skills, the ability to work with others as a team, should be very organized and have great critical thinking skills, and most importantly should be dependable and have high stress tolerance. As stated before, RNs can work in different hospital facilities, doctor’s offices, clinics, schools, military hospitals, and prisons.

What Built Me The sound of monitors beeping throughout the night or the desire to just have one night in your own bed doesn’t sound very appealing to most people. In fact, it isn 't my ideal situation either. Still, the Hermann Children 's hospital forever holds a special place in my heart. I am able to live a normal life thanks to the Hermann Children 's hospital staff.
Nursing was always the career I wanted to pursue but my experiences with sick children inspired me to focus on paediatrics. During my time in High School, I encountered sick students battling with a range of illness such as; Leukaemia, Alopecia and in one case Cystic Fibrosis. Emma, my friend was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at a young age, was hospitalised many times during her school life and sadly passed away in 2013, in the Robin House Children’s Hospice. I gained an appreciation of
