What makes a person likeable? In the novel The Scorch Trials by James Dashner, I appreciate Thomas due to his natural passion for change; his thoughts and actions are controlled by his instinctive senses, his emotionally-centred ways, and his intellectually powerful decisions. Firstly, I feel that Thomas is a fairly instinctive character. Throughout the novel, he is described as a quick-thinking and intelligent individual who prioritizes a more time-consuming and well-thought-out plan over a messy scramble for freedom. I believe this is due to his futuristic and long-term thinking process as well as his desire to ensure success, which I admire. Part of Thomas’ instinct also has to do with his past experiences, specifically with the maze trials and WICKED, which allows him to be unmatchable in terms of what to expect. …show more content…
From previous horrors to upcoming ones, Thomas will always remember why he is where he is, and why. More so, there is always a spark of rage and hatred inside of him waiting to be fueled, further motivating him to make sense of any situation that arises. Thomas’ close friends mean the world to him and he can’t stand seeing them get hurt, let alone dying; this results in him constantly checking up on the group and their overall well-being. We can see Thomas’ deminor to take care of his friends when he sees Teresa for the first time excitedly and unexpectedly, though still has the courage to say, “No. You guys stay here…Maybe it’s a trap or something”(113). In having this extra sense of responsibility, I feel Thomas to have an inspiring personality. Lastly, although shown as a normally-witted person, I believe Thomas’ intelligence shines through his personality and binds all of his traits
Ever since that night thomas and victor were no longer friends. Thomas’ has a good forgiving nature, heart, and isn’t afraid to be himself even when people stop talking to him. For instance, when all the other kids talked behind his back and made fun of him, he still told his stories to whoever would listen and kept to himself. Also, when Thomas heard the news about Victors’ father he is willing to put all the money he has been saving up towards the trip. Thomas says “i can lend you the money you need… just take me with you”.
This caused many conflicts, but in the end, it reflected who Tom was as a person. Beginning Thomas’s training in school, he did not enjoy it at all. The new Ute ways made him feel like a replica of an Indian. He tried running away multiple times, but his guardians would always somehow catch him, till one day where he had finally escaped.
Thomas finally found his calling as a writer. But, Thomas didn’t start off in the colonies great, he came off a boat sick and with a disease. He survived this unlike many others he was wrapped in a blanket and carried off a boat. A doctor volunteered to take care of him.
It was discussed that when Thomas is on scene, he is critical to the point that it’s easier not having to deal with him or how he carries himself like he knows everything and discards
Thomas did always get what he wanted like to get to go to the high school he wanted to go to when he got to the seventh grade. Thomas was a man that would think and almost always get it done. Thomas was a very happy person wherever he was at. babies. Thomas was African American.

Thomas has been running around ragged during the first two books of The Maze Runner series: first he had to escape the Maze with his Glader friends in Book One; then, in Book Two, he had to endure the Scorch Trials, a deadly trek through a hot, barren wasteland. Talk about having a bad few weeks. Well, at the end of Book Two, we left Thomas in a white room, alone. He just completed the Scorch Trials, and word has it that he has the Flare, so WICKED has him quarantined.
In modern and new society people are making new inventions and becoming a “Hero” in their own minds, Thomas is a hero and a villain at the same time, from other people's perspectives. He is like an Anti-hero, where he is good and also bad in the same way. But for the most part, Thomas has been a hero to the Glade and the Shanks, so he also broke some rules that make the people mad in the Glade. Thomas's demeanor was bad because he broke the number 1 rule and he only got put in the Slammer for 1 DAY! In the novel Maze Runner by James Dashner, it says, “Newt said.

When Teresa, Thomas’ best friend, makes a reappearance, Thomas has to decide
Each step groaned and creaked under his weight…” Thomas was told that he was not allowed upstairs since he was a newbie but he didn’t listen or want to be near Gally so he decided to go up anyways. Thomas shows the traits of a rebel when he broke one of the Glade’s rules. Even though he’s new to the Glade and lost all of his memories, except for his name, he still chose to go against what the Gladers said to fill his
I promised him!’”(Dashner 358). This shows that Thomas was determined to get Chuck out of the Maze, but he was unable to do so because Chuck was loyal to Thomas and sacrificed himself for him. The text also says, “Thomas hugged Chuck to his chest, squeezed him as tightly as possible, as if that could somehow bring him back, or show thanks for saving his life, for being his friend when no one else would.” (Dashner 358). This means that Thomas realized that Chuck was his only true friend.
He tries talking to Shaw but he refuses. Even after this, he is determined to improve and doesn’t give up. Thomas sets a good example to his fellow soldiers as he is very strong, independent, brave, studious, and respectful. He is a very unique character as no matter how hard things get, he still looks at the bright side and never gives up. He fought for what he believed was right and never let anyone tear him down.
He exceeded their standards and ended up killing them. Thomas was made to save people and be able to go through harsh things and that is exactly what he did.
