Critique of the Strong Interest Inventory
Hansen (1987) identifies Edward Kellog Strong, Jr. as the first author of the Strong Interest Inventory in 1927. He also recognizes Strong as the first psychologist to devote his career to the study and measurement of vocational interests and for the development of one of the most widely used vocational assessments. Leierer, Blackwell, Strohmer, Thompson and Donnay (2008) indicated that the assessment underwent several revisions and referred to the inventory as being scientifically sound, well researched and the most widely used interest inventories, most recently revised in 2005. Erford and Crockett (2012) predicted that the future of the career development and intervention specialty counseling area is bright, indeed!

(2017) requires that examiners have a master’s degree or a doctoral degree in psychology or a related field, and/or possess a specific state license, or national or state certification to be considered qualified to administer, interpret and apply the results of the Strong Interest Inventory.
Case and Blackwell (2008) encourages career counselors, psychologists and others to incorporate the use of the Strong Interest Inventory because it is well designed and will provide clients with a plethora of information to consider as well as provide them with the resources they need to make an informed decision about their career.
Garis and Li (2015) present a trio of basic requirements of individual career counseling including (1) process: the counseling relationship, reflecting, considering internal information of the client, and the process of making decisions, (2) information: external educational as well as career information, and (3) assessment: internal information from the client about their personality, interests, values and skills.

After reading this paper you will know about the two careers I chose to research for this project. Based on the results of my MBTI and Interest Inventory test and my personal interest, the two careers that had were listed and caught my attention were Forensic Anthropologist and School Psychologist. My MBTI (personality test) report shows that I am an Introvert, Intuitive, Feeler, and lastly a Perceiver. The six cluster in the interest inventory model was realistic, conventional, enterprising, social, artistic, and investigative. the results were based on my responses to the 75 questions, it is determined that my primary and secondary interest areas were in artistic and social.
Assessment Reflection When administrating the Reading Interest Inventory (Mariotti, n.d.), the Motivations to Read Profile Survey and asking the Conversational Survey Questions (Pitcher, et al., 2007), it gave insight to how Hailey felt about herself as a learner. The questions that stood out in my mind, is how I can help Hailey to be more success in the classroom as well as become a stronger reader overtime? I would like to look more in depth in Hailey’s comprehension skills and provide her educational strategies that will help Hailey to grow in her reading comprehension and give her some tools to help herself when she is having trouble. I am interested to see how Hailey reads orally, and to check her reading accuracy and fluency. Are these areas that are impacting Hailey as a learner as well?
Now as I’ve been agreeing with all the test’s results and their meanings behind them, there is something that Ms. Kendra Cherry speaks of that I don’t agree with, and that is some of her career choices for ISFJ people. Now she does gives an examples of some that are good choices such as a bookkeeper, banker, and an accountant, she thinks that some of the best career choices for people with the personality type are social worker, counselor, teacher, etc. The reason why I disagree with her choices is that I feel that her choices don’t go well with people who have the ISFJ type of personality. Knowing what it means to be a ISFJ, you would know by now that people who have this type of personality are kinds of people who wouldn’t fit the mold of
1. Provide a brief summary (in your own words) of the company (i.e., history of the company). Capital One, which is headquartered in McLean, Virginia, was founded in 1988 by Mr. Richard D. Fairbank. He wanted to bring information, testing, technology, and amazing people to the team. So, that they could work together to bring financial products straight to consumers that had been customized.
The theme of a story is a very important factor when depicting the impact the story has. Theme of a story is the comprehension of general message or idea that is conveyed throughout a literary work. As a story progresses the theme is often conveyed regularly and emerges in varied ways. Sometimes a story can have more than one theme portrayed within it. In the story “A&P” there is more than one theme present in the story.
According to Walden University’s School of Counseling (2023), students that are suited for the counseling profession must demonstrate these dispositions consistently. During my training and education to become a professional counselor I plan to engage with my professors and apply the feedback that they give me so that I can better develop the skills that I need to be able to demonstrate professional dispositions. I also plan to gain more knowledge that will help me to understand how my biases may affect others, how I can be attentive to others’ feelings and experiences, and how I can engage in self-reflection so that I can effectively apply any feedback that I

Growing up in a Christian household has nurtured my walk with God throughout my life. Since a young age, I have known God as my personal savior, but my faith and trust in Him have grown over the past several years. This past summer, I took part in a worship leader internship program at our church, which provided me with the opportunity to plan and lead worship services. Participating in this program helped me grow closer to God, but it also taught me how to be a leader rather than a follower. As God continues revealing His plan for my life, I feel called to attend Verity and to pursue my passion with a career in law enforcement.
Introduction: In 2011, famous American psychologist, Marsha Linehan, removed herself from solitude and spoke out about her struggle with a mental illness, expressing feelings of “being in hell” and memories of being in an institute of living at age seventeen. Although psychologists and mental health experts seem to be one of the strongest assets to society in a mental aspect, they tend to struggle with mental illness more than the general population. Linehan 's confession, was a shock to many, and it should come as a surprise that she is one of many mental health professionals that lives with a mental illness. Although psychologists struggle with mental health issues more than the general population, it may be helpful to their profession.
Focus 2 Assignment – Reflection Upon completing the Focus 2 career assessment program, I am quite impressed at the quality of information it presents. It allowed me to not only look at careers that would fit my personality, but also those that take into consideration the fields I am already interested in. Also, as with any form of self-assessment, there were strengths and weaknesses that I did not expect based on how I feel I live my life currently. Beginning chronologically, the program had me complete two subjective, current measures of my professional career.
The first attempt and success to climb Mt. Everest occured in 1953. Since then, almost 4,000 people have been able to scale the mountain, but over 230 people have not been able to climb it successfully. There is a chance of accident or death when climbing this mountain or any dangerous activity. All people should should have the right to rescue services even if they knowingly put themselves at risk because there is always a chance of an accident happening, rangers are there to save people in danger, and there are rescue vehicles being produced to be used in case of an emergency.
The story A & P by John Updike represents a quest because on this particular day in the store Sammy goes on a journey, faces challenges and discovers something about himself. Evidence of this from the story is first, due to the three girls entering his store Sammy is now on a journey of love with Queenie, even though she does not know it. From the moment he saw her she captured his eye becoming the only thing he could focus on and really care about in those moments of being in her presence. Another explain of Sammy being on a quest is the fact that he faced challenges and trials during the process. One of the challenges he faced is being scorned by the “witch” whom he was checking out when Queenie first entered the store because his attention
Like other professions in the mental health field and helping professions, counseling typically attracts those who are imbued with a need to help others, to make a difference in others’ lives, the community around them and sometimes even the world. There are many facets to a counselor and to counseling, some of which take on personal attributes such as personality, the values and beliefs held by counselors, and what they perceive their role in the counseling profession to be. Other facets involve ethical considerations in therapy, the importance of the profession, the value and process of change, important counseling practices and the value of necessary self-care a counselor ought to engage in. The role of a counselor is to act as a conduit to change and wellbeing in a client.
I have always been unsure when it comes to a choosing a career for myself. Whether it be a nurse, a doctor, a counselor, or even an engineer, I have never been able to come to a compromise on the “right” career path. One thing that has always been clear to me is that whatever career I choose in the future, I want to be able to impact a person 's life everyday. Recently, I have been thinking about what profession could help me accomplish this lifelong goal, and I have come to a decision. The career path I have chosen is a degree in psychology.
Mitchell and Krumboltz (2012) also argues that a barrier to set goals and to make satisfying choices is to have irrational believes about certain aspects such as career choices and development. Amundson (2009) suggest that clients need to identify these irrational beliefs to move past them and it is therefore important for the career counsellor to help clients identify them. According to the career decision-making theory, the primary focus of decision making and career development is learning through experiences and human interaction (Mitchell & Krumboltz, 2012). The third proposition of the happenstance theory states that it is important to focus on client behaviour (Krumboltz, 2009). “The success of counselling is assessed by what the client accomplishes in the real world outside the counselling session” (Krumboltz, 2009).
