Summer Reading Reflection Essay “You saved him!” “You saved him!” the crowd shouted. A book written by Dave Barry called, The Worst Class Trip Ever which is about an eighth grader on a class trip to Washington D.C. The book has many characters with very different personalities. The book has unexpected twists and turns throughout it. The novel involves kidnappers, a dragon and (of course) the 5 children from Miami that know nothing about what they’re getting into. This book started out as, a fairly normal story. It was about a kid, Wyatt Palmer, and his best friend, Matt, traveling to D.C. for a class trip. In the novel I could never guess what would happen next. As one starts to get enveloped into the book, two weird guys that are Russian

It had also become very messy if you had to read about everyone all the time. The language is quite "young", because the protagonists are teenagers. They use words such as "like" and " freak", words that adults may not use very often, but all can obviously read the book yet because it is very easy to read. The book is about four girls who have known each other since before they were born when their mothers went to the same
In today’s modern world, many students in high school are striving to be the best, and sometimes to get there, students compete against each other which than of course brings on the pressure and stress of not only keeping up with classes but making it to the top of the class and becoming valedictorian. They will do anything to reach the top, sometimes even cheating to surpass fellow students. Although Margaret Talbot acknowledges the other arguments that becoming a valedictorian is great and should not be gotten rid of in her article “Best in Class”, she conveys the message that competition for valedictorian is unnecessary through her use of diction and testimonies. Talbot uses strong diction to show the reader that the competition for valedictorian
The book kept me guessing until the very end of the story. The main characters are easy to relate to, and are very likeable. Lauren Oliver’s style in the book is casual, yet it keeps the reader greatly intrigued. Oliver is able to paint a very vivid picture of each event in the story, that makes the reader feel as if they are right there, participating in the challenges. The theme of desire reoccurs in the story, as the characters all desire something throughout the game.
A lot of the book is spent on their trial since there was a debate over what their punishment should be. In the end, three of the four boys were sentenced to life in prison plus 4-8 years without parole while the fourth got 25 years plus 4 years without parole. All the parents of those boys were upset as they argued that four people will die for one murder. The judge doesn't care and they all go to jail for their crimes and that's how the story ends. The theme of this story is to cherish those you care about because nothing lasts forever.
It might be weird and hard to read, but after you get the hang of it , you will think that every character is very special and unique in their own
I loved every minute of reading this book. The way Alexandra Robbins peered into the lives of these seven people was exciting and I found myself relating to each of these characters in unique ways. In a way, this book resembles a reality show; I get to learn about and figure out people who are simply trying to survive high
It took me a moment to grasp everything that’s happened in this book before I can move on with my life. I didn’t really know what this book is about except that somehow the main character keeps living her last day over and over again. I didn’t know that this book is actually about bullying and depression. Also, trigger warning for suicide.
For the past few weeks I have been reading this book called The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. These particular three girls are on a wild hunt for their mother who abandoned them. One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia, explains to us that it was a crazy summer for the three sisters. The book has 15 chapters and is divided into three major parts - Childhood, Adolescence, and Adulthood. However, it moves backwards in time (Schafer). “The book begins with stories from 1989-1972, and includes tales of Yolanda’s return to the Dominican Republic; Sofia’s unwillingness to obey her father, and Mamita’s troubles with her daughters.” “The second part of the novel, titled 1960-1970, returns to a time when the girls were newcomers to the US. ” Lastly, the third part of the novel consists of the years 1960-1956 (Julia Alvarez Authors).
The time period within the novel is constantly changing from the past to present, which I did not like, because since read inconsistently, I had to go back into previous chapters to refresh my memory. This book was an enjoyable read. It was necessary to pay close attention in order to keep up with the plot and the changing time periods in every chapter. It is a perfect book for young adults and teens that enjoy books of fantasy and romance.

This will be an instant hit with any child who loves fantasy.
One of its strengths is that it has the period of waiting that is needed for suspense to rise built into its form. The story follows four characters, switching between them: Kennith, an unscrupulous Pirate Captain; Althea Vestrit, a Trader’s daughter, who is snubbed of inheriting the family’s magical ship; and Wintrow, Althea’s younger brother, who had his heart set on becoming a priest, but instead has to work on the family’s ship (Hobb). Each character faces difficult situations, and at the end of each section something about their situation is hinted at, but not resolved, which leaves the reader in suspense until it becomes that character’s turn to be the focus of the story once
