The Importance of Being On Time Respect is something that we all desire, but earning it is no easy task. One of the most respectable traits anyone can have, civilian or soldier can have is time management. When you report for duty, or be on time for your date, time management should be a must. By not managing your time well, you could disrupt not only the course of your day, but others as well. Keeping your word and showing up on time shows that you are reliable and appreciate the other person's time as well. In general, a common rule is, “If you're not ten minutes early, you're late.” There are many easy things you can do if you want to improve your time management. I also plan on ensuring my uniform and physical training clothes are ready and waiting for me in the morning. Furthermore I plan on getting to bed at a decent time to ensure that lack of sleep does not persuade my hand to slam the snooze button. I plan on ensuring that the volume on my alarm is all the way up right before bed. I understand that not being punctual makes me look like a soldier with no promotions in his future. I understand my tardiness lets down my entire platoon and shows a lack of responsibility to my leaders. Knowing this, I realize punctuality and time management is a must in the military. Time management is important in the United States Army because things are planned accordingly, assets such as people and equipment are very valuable and the accomplishment of the mission can hinder on those assets being at a certain place at a certain time. Time is money. Dependability is a valuable quality in the civilian workplace, whether it comes from your employees or vendors. Having a staff of dependable employees and managers helps your business run more smoothly and ensures that tasks are seen through to
