Accountability Is something that is very important and leader and superiors in the Military or in any job for that reason, for the simple fact that it is not only a requirement for you but also very important to your supervisors or chain of command depending on your situation. You can resort to accountability for many reason when it comes to daily productivity as a team or group. Maintaining accountability of anything wether it be equipment or people can be very helpful when it comes to dividing tasks and assignments or just keeping track of everybody or everything you are in charge of. I’ve realized that not being on time can cause a lot headaches and unnecessary punishments, not because it isn 't deserving but because it is easy to avoid. The standard for the Army for time hacks is ten minutes prior to the set time, this allows squad leaders and team leaders to get an accurate count of everybody and take count of anyone who isn’t there, it also gives the people who are prone to being late to be on “time” according to the actual set time. AR 600-8-6 is the regulation that cover accountability and strength reporting, which is important to the subject at hand because if a squad leader or team leader is missing personnel, it covers how it should be reported. Allthough there is no set regulation for certain things such as time hacks, they are command driven so whatever your command puts out a set time or if you were to miss the set time, it is up to your command on how to handle

The idea of this is of course in the word leadership. The Army deems it imperative that a leader sets the pace and the example for his or her subordinates to follow. The second is to Encourage thinking. A fine example of why this is vital in leadership is explained in The intelligently disobedient soldier (Clark, 2017). In his writing
“Army leaders recognize that organizations, built on mutual trust and confidence, successfully accomplish missions” (Department of the Army, 2012, p. v). As stated in Army Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 6-22, having trust and confidence in each other is necessary for mission accomplishment, which can be hard when there is a presence of abuse of power. Leaders must be aware of the atmosphere they are creating and should take care of all issues equally. The Army have different creeds and oaths, and all of them are about ensuring we take care of Soldiers. Abuse of power can lead to many other issues within the organization to include Soldiers leaving the service.
The military is a big commitment by both you and the military. In the United States Army, military bearing is the reason why every service member practices this so they can take orders to carry out good discipline and ethics throughout their military service. Army regulations and The Articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice show us how a military service member should conduct themselves on a daily basis. All soldiers have an obligation to conduct themselves like they are adults and to show respect to the ranks above them.
This essay is about Accountability I did make formation so my NCO has given me a plam of action on the importance of Accountability. I was not at the correct place of duty for PT/Accountability formation at the correct time which is 0630 and each SM should arrive 10 minutes prior 0620. I had a Flat tire and I still arrived there was a miscommunication, granted on my half, there is still no excuse for me to miss a formation. To be accountable shows responsibility and I want to take responsiblity for my actions. The first plan of action I need to take is always making sure I am at the right place of duty at the right time or atleast 10 min prior which is practiced in the Military.
Of the eight sub topics the three most important ones to me are gets results, resources and priorities, and adjusts. Leaders get results by providing clear and understandable guidance for how and what needs to be done by a certain set of standards whether they are from higher powers or just the from the way that they would like things done. Leaders may also monitor those who are under them to help identify their strengths and help them with their weaknesses so that missions or goals are reached effectively and consistently. Managing resources is a big responsibility for leaders whether they be junior enlisted or officers, proper accountability of all resources is an essential phase that may determine the success rate of a mission or goal. Along with proper accountability of resources comes the factor of how to prioritize resources whether they be limited or plentiful.
From the lesson of training, I also realized the weight that officers hold when it comes to building trust, motivating, and pushing their soldiers. They are going to expect the utmost level of skill as well as professionalism that you must provide as an officer. In return, it is your right to expect the same level of excellence from your soldiers, being there to push them above the standard and holding them to being experts and professionals. This is a trait that no matter how skilled you or your soldiers may be, there will always be room for constant improvement and
Now also for accountability in the Marine Corps is one of the highest things that are always being hit on. So in other words, being accountable may mean for you to be at a certain place at whatever time was given for you to be there. Next, another reason why accountability is important is because if you don’t keep track of your gear and you’re missing something when the time comes and you need that piece of gear that you were missing then you would be in a lot of trouble. All together being accountable is; well to the Marine Corps being called mission ready. That is why accountability in the Marine Corps is very or in greater words beyond important.
We are coming up for our deployment rotation and while we are deployed being late could seriously hurt us or stress our Chain of Command out because they may think one of us are lost or worse dead. Accountability in the military is huge. The military is all about being at the right place, at the right time, and in the right uniform. I was late for accountability formation and that is the most important formation of the day. I did not report so that means no one knew where I was at, even though I was safe and in my room, no one knew where I was and no one knew if I was safe or not.

We all understand how to be a good Soldier. We must not only know those values, we must encompass them. As Dempsey says; (2010) “The Army Ethic begins with the moral values the Army defends” (p. 12). As a Human Resources Sergeant in the Profession of Arms, we have a calling. We have been called upon to take care of so many in so many different ways.
The Importance of Accountability in the U.S. Army Every living thing on Earth demands discipline and accountability, but when it comes to U.S. Army, soldiers are trained specifically in these subjects. There are extreme costs at risk if these principles are not held high by the Armed Forces. Most organized Armies focus on the importance of accountability and teach it in the very beginning stages of readiness. Accountability includes things such as showing up on time to safeguarding sensitive records, keeping account of resources to watching out for fellow soldiers. Almost everything can be tied back to the importance of accountability.
Leaders must apply the Army Values when leading soldiers because of the fact that it builds trust and a bond. The same goes for the soldiers, in order for them both to work as an effective team and to get the mission done efficiently they both must live by these values. Once these values are integrated in a soldier’s lifestyle, it becomes too easy to work as a unit. An example on how loyalty and respect fits in a day to day to situation would be, a soldier witnessing a misunderstanding with his or her team leader and a higher ranking NCO, the soldier knows that his or her team leader is in the right. The soldier shows loyalty by standing by their team leader and shows respect by approaching both their team leader and the higher ranking NCO with tact to explain the situation from their understanding and what they witnessed.
Leadership in the Army is the fundamental foundation of the organization. Leaders like Officers and Non- Commission Officers implement and set the standard of leader to soldiers. These leaders ensure the Army soldiers are trained and prepare for any hardships they face. The term Leadership can be defined differently based on the organization in which the term is applied to. In the Army Leadership can be described as a "characterized by a complex mix of organizational, situational, and mission demands on a leader who applies personal qualities, abilities, and experiences to exert influence on the organization, its people, the situation, and the unfolding mission" (ADP 6-22).
Not committing to the task could potentially suggest that they were incompetent or lack the capacity as a military personnel so facing ‘dangers’ was a much preferred option. Additionally, discipline in the military can be seen when an officer makes his salutes appropriately, their conduct, to the state of their uniform and even how they present themselves in public. While discipline in military is rewarded as it is a sign of respect and duty, misconduct on the other hand is punishable. When discipline is lacking in an army personnel, it not only affects their own performance but also the team as a whole. It is therefore important to instil discipline early and effectively.
