The Russian Revolution was a very sad period in Russia. Sad because people died, got hurt and lost family members, all because they were not given the rights they were born with, and fought hard to get it. It all started because of Absolute Monarchism. The rulers in Russia were called Czars, and they had absolute power. Russia’s last Czar was Nicholas the II, and he became a Czar with very little training, because when his dad died he inherited the throne. In 1905 a priest brought a list of grievances, representing thousands of workers that were on strike and demanding for some changes. The Czar was not home so the priest and the workers invaded his home, and unfortunately got shot, and that was the Bloody Sunday. It caused great commotion and protests, so, in the October Manifesto the Czar declared he would make the changes the …show more content…
He conceded to create an elected legislature, called the Duma. But, right after he created it, he continued to rule stubbornly, by resisting the government reformation. The next cause was World War I, which happened in 1914-1918 and it was an absolute disaster. At the beginning of the war Russia’s army performed very poorly, and as a result Nicholas the II proclaims himself the commander-in-chief , but also loses and makes his situation a lot worse. During the war there were more than ten million casualties and extreme poverty as a result. The last main reason was Marxism, which is a philosophy created by Karl Marx, that is basically a way of seeing the world. He believed that in the future the world was going to split into two groups of people. The Proletarian were the workers and the people who made less money, and the Bourgeoisie who were
Nicholas II was extremely strict when it came to his government and as a result forbade any form of democracy in Russia and imposed absolute autocracy on all the citizens. His domestic policy was so strict political parties were illegal to form and he even made the Okhrana, a secret police that arrested and imprisoned any political critics, rebels, or those who voiced a negative opinion against the Russian autocracy. As a result, the citizens, especially those of lower class, despised the government and would often attempt to revolt. However, since the revolts were unorganized and ineffective, Nicholas II was able to end them very swiftly. After the defeat in the Russo-Japanese War in 1905, Russia suffered extreme humiliation as well as economic decline.

Czar Nicholas and the Romanov Dynasty: Czar Nicholas was the last czar of the Romanov (Russian) Dynasty to rule Russia. Czar Nicholas and the Romanov Dynasty played a crucial role in provoking the start of the Russian Revolution (“Romanov Dynasty”). During the Russian Revolution, Russia was beginning to fall towards an economic corruption. Czar Nicholas was aware of the severity of lack of human necessities, yet he ignored the citizens. As a result, the citizens rioted the capital of Petrograd, making demands for food and better working conditions.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 marked the end of the Romanov dynasty and centuries of Russian Imperial rule. During the Russian Revolution, the Bolsheviks, led by leftist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin seized power and destroyed the tradition of czarist rule. Civil War broke out in Russia between the Red and White Armies. The Red Army fought for the Lenin’s Bolshevik government. The White Army represented a large group of monarchists, capitalists and supporters of democratic socialism.
One man, Vladimir Lenin saw that Russia was spiraling downwards, having lost two battles in a row and having the highest death count out of all the European countries he saw that a change was needed. Lenin was the leader of the Bolsheviks who were a communist group that wanted to draw out of the war and over thrown Czar Nicholas II. Preaching peace, and food he wanted, ¨the offer of peace, the salvation of Petrograd, salvation from famine, and the transfer of land to the peasants who depended on them,¨ (Document 8). People were drawn into this and, ¨increasingly taken in by the propagandists of the united Socialist Party and their internationalis ideas,¨ (Document 9). This combined with high death rates, starvation, communist ideals started the overthrow of Russia and the end of the war.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 marked one of the most radical turning points in the country’s 1,300-year history and established the Soviet Union as a Communist state. Russia in the 19th century was a massive empire stretching from Poland to the Pacific. Ruling such a massive country was quite the undertaking, especially because the long-term problems within Russia were approaching the surface. In 1917, these problems finally produced a revolution, which completely wiped the old system away. The Russian Revolution was a rebellion executed by the Russian people against the Russian elite.
Karl Liebknecht once said, “The Russian revolution was to an unprecedented degree the cause of the proletariat of the whole world becoming more revolutionary.” The revolution was a result of tension and disaffection for the Russian people. The Russian revolution was accountable with how Russia withdrew WW1 because of the destruction it brought forth to the Russian economy. The Russian revolution was caused by hard labor, unprepared leaders, and how Russia was industrially behind.
The Russian revolution resulted in the overthrow of the country’s monarchy and the establishment of the Soviet Union. It started off with many protests and strikes that forced Tsar Nicholas II out of power. As a result, a provisional government was put in place but it was weak and ineffective so the Bolsheviks took control and established a socialist government. The Bolshevik Revolution was caused by a combination of unstable and corrupt monarchies, unfair treatment of the populace, and a lagging industry, which eventually led to the creation of the USSR.
With no signs of the czar’s attempt to solve the complications, Russia banded together and filled the streets with strikes and riots. A revolution was peaking among the peasants. The uprising brought Nicholas ll no choice but to abdicate his throne. This was an opportunity
During the 20th century, Russia was experiencing turmoil in war and the country was deeply affected with Tsar Nicholas’s wrong decisions and lack of experience in politics. After the 1917 revolution in Russia, Lenin became the ruler of Russia and the USSR and proved to be the best Russian ruler of the 20th century. Before then, Tsarism dominated and Nicholas II was in power until he foresaw many revolutions against his methods of ruling. He remained as the supreme ruler and did not take actions for reforms. However, after the 1917 revolution, which Lenin masterminded, the Tsar was overthrown and the Bolsheviks established a stable government which took control in Russia.
Although Russia was once again in a terrible position for war the fought in the first World War and their country and its people faced further hardships. The people began to revolt and took over the government and then assassinated Nicholas II’s entire
Based on how history people starving and Czar Nicholas 2 doing whatever he wanted was the main cause of the Russian Revolution. During this time people were being rationed for food because of the costly war effort. Along with the people going hungry Czar Nicholas 2 was constantly dissolving the Duma to get what he wanted. People started to lose faith in him due to government corruption and the way he was letting his people starve. People began to riot and the soldiers that were sent to end their rebellion defected to their cause and helped them to get rid of Czar Nicholas 2.
The Russian Revolution is a governmental overthrow of a ruling that took place in the early twentieth century. Prior to the revolution, Russia was ruled by Czar Nicholas II who was a part of the last reigning Russian monarch, the Tsar. The Tsar had complete power in Russia as he owned much of the land, commanded the army, and controlled the church. During the reign of the Tsar, the Russian citizens were treated badly and unfair. They experienced vigorous labor in dangerous conditions for little pay and were without food and money countless times.
The Russian Revolution, which was started by Lenin and his followers, was a rebellion that occurred in 1917 which forced higher powers to act to the needs of the lower class. For instance, many citizens were worried for their protection in consequence to the lack of survival necessities due to an early drought. Furthermore, their current czar during the time was incapable for his position as a czar and made horrendous decisions as czar. For example, when the czar, Nicholas, entered in World War I, he sent untrained troops into countless battles of failure which costed in mass amounts of lost life (paragraph 23).
