Medical field is filled with different varieties of professions. The medical field is health professions by doctors, nurses and other allied health care services that have a passion for helping others. Since high school I always wanted to do something in the medical field. Now that I have taken a few steps into deciding my career, I want to become a medical assistant. A medical assistant are multi-skilled health care professional who are highly trained to perform administrative or clinical duties in an ambulatory or immediate rare settings. Working as a physician assistant allows great flexibility in which they can switch between specialties throughout the duration of their career. Being that family medicine has been identified as the most popular specialty within the PA profession, many graduates completing a physician assistant program will pursue a career in this specialty. The family medicine specialty is particularly favored among physician assistants because it allows them to treat patients throughout their whole life and even allows the PA to see patients dealing with many different issues instead of focusing on just one area of medicine; this can be described as a more all inclusive specialty. Physician assistant program lengths typically only last 27 months and the potential to earn a salary of approximately over $100,000 a year makes this specialty favorable as well. With there being a decline in the number of physicians, the physician assistant profession is expected to increase dramatically over the years.

Upon graduating from Indiana Tech, I plan to attend graduate school to obtain a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. As an LPN I am limited to what I can do without the direct supervisions of an RN. Although LPN contributes a lot to the as assessment process, but they are not credited for it because it is not part of their credential. Being an RN will able me to receive the full credit for my hard work. As an RN, I will be able to take better of care of my patient without someone else direct supervision. The RN license will able me to work independently and assess my patient in a timely manner.
