I was born four weeks prematurely weighing in at four pounds, seven ounces, and was seventeen inches long. The doctor had held me up with one hand for all to see. It was not soon after that the very same doctor told my parents I may be developmentally delayed. My parents feared the worst when I was struggling to read, however I remember distinctly when my father first revealed the hard-covered medical encyclopedia. The imagines that disgusted my mother was a source of my fascination that sparked my interest to read in order to discover the knowledge I was seeking. Ever since I could remember that story of my birth being told, it was a defining moment for me – one I believe has allowed me to become the person I am today. Even though, others have told me they cannot see me working in healthcare or that I’m too small to be an emergency medical technician. I believe in facing adversity, that all things happen for a reason and every tribulation can allow me to reach my full potential.

The job role of a physician assistant allows me to pursue my desire for knowledge, as well as, building relationships with patients. Final Paper Introduction: Ever since I was in high school I aspired to become a physician assistant(PA). Throughout my academic journey, this career path has captivated my interest. I have been interested in becoming a PA since I was in high school, but it was not until recently that I decided that the specialization I like to explore more depth is cardiology. Since the beginning of the class PA was my chosen career and I have remained steadfast in my pursuit of becoming a physician assistant. Thanks to this course I was able to determine that cardiology is my favorite specialty.

There are many policies and laws for a medical assistant to stay within the scope of practice when dealing with bookkeeping, record keeping, and payroll. While it is important to keep a patient's information confidential, it is also quite important to pay attention to the details, accuracy, and ethical standards of a patient's record. Someone that is a medical assistant has a large amount of tasks that need to be completed along with personal and professional qualities that need to be retained. Although there are many scopes of practice for a medical assistant, the business transactions of a medical office are important.
As an undergraduate at IUPUI I would be very eager to pursue my academic and Career plans. I’m interested in biology and chemistry with the main goal of attending the physician’s assistant program after my undergraduate years. As an undergrad at IUPUI I would like to be in a position of leadership, in anyway, volunteering, setting on panels or committees and helping the community... My childhood initiated a desire to help prevent and mitigate injury or illness; this soon flourished into an interest in the health care field. To help narrow my choices I explored as many science courses as I could. Talking with health care professionals and reading nursing textbooks I found in my aunt’s house piqued my interest in the nursing field and patient care. From there, I completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course which further solidified my decision. Now, I am fully invested in becoming a nurse.

Since a child I was always held responsible for attending doctor 's appointments with my parents due to their language barrier. Surprisingly, I never felt that responsibility as a burden because hospitals intrigued me. The polar emotions of safety and fear simultaneously, fascinated me. With this awareness when I began taking science courses at North Shore Community College, I found that the subject also fascinated me. The components of liking the hospital and material, had led me to the realization that I had a calling for the medical field.
I am a 27-year-old mother and fiancé. My goal is to complete my science prerequisite classes with 4.0’s so that I can apply to the Physician Assistant program at Western Michigan University. I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from WMU and I am currently working as a Medical Assistant. I have a son named Lorenzo, his first birthday is a couple hours away! Through my studies of human expression and its reflection of how people deal with world events in different ways, I developed sensitivity to other worldviews that continues to prove useful through my daily interactions with people of different backgrounds. I have learned that just like art, medicine involves pattern recognition and derives insight from experiences. Similarly, what I especially enjoy about being a medical assistant is interacting with patients on a daily basis and getting to be a part of their medical experiences, even if it is just by lending an ear. The experiences on my path to a career in medicine have made me want to make a real, tangible difference in the lives of those around me – a difference that leaves my patients in a better condition than they were in before I met them.
The profession I have chosen to pursue is that of a Physician Assistant. My reason for this selection is because it gives you the independency of a Physician while having somewhat less responsibilities. A Physician Assistant provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. Some of these services include but are not limited to examining and treating patients, diagnosing illnesses and counseling patients. In some case physician assistants are also tasked to prescribe medicine to patients.
