My childhood initiated a desire to help prevent and mitigate injury or illness; this soon flourished into an interest in the health care field. To help narrow my choices I explored as many science courses as I could. Talking with health care professionals and reading nursing textbooks I found in my aunt’s house piqued my interest in the nursing field and patient care. From there, I completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course which further solidified my decision. Now, I am fully invested in becoming a nurse. In the CNA course I became an advocate in the care of the patient. The course introduced me to many skills such as taking one’s vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living and repositioning those who are bedridden. It
Being in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class with Ms.Pennington is always interesting. We attend class every morning during the week from 9:00am.m to 11:30am. The main thing that we work on is all the procedures we need for the residents. But we also work on how to keep the resident safe, and comfortable. Being in the CNA class helps us move forward in the medical field.
My research centers around Mexican immigrant women working as certified nursing assistants (CNAs) in Bellingham, Washington. As the first line of care in eldercare institutions, CNAs spend more time with residents than any other staff members, performing the most intimate tasks. Belied by its low-wage, low-status ranking within the industry, the work of a CNA involves a great deal of skill and interpretation of the clients’ needs. Interestingly, positive scores for eldercare facilities in Washington have been associated with the presence of more immigrant caregivers, with the indication that this may come from the “motivation and characteristics of the workers themselves” (Acker et al. 2015, 665)”
CNA’s are in high demand. Unfortunately, there are usually far more positions open than there are applicants, as CNA’s are not among the higher paying positions available in the healthcare industry. However, these individuals can gain a tremendous wealth of knowledge by attending CNA classes, and they can build on this knowledge throughout their medical careers. At any rate, people who go through the classes have the chance to work in an environment that serves others, often in their worst times of need. CNA classes are an effective way of teaching people how to care for another individual.

There will always be a need for a skilled certified nursing assistants, whether it is in a hospital or in a nursing home. Being a CNA, there is a lot to take on and deal with; this type of job you have to be ready physically, emotionally, and mentally. There will always be a need for a skilled nursing assistants at a hospital or nursing homes. All of the job responsibilities a CNA is required to complete can wear you out, but when you get to see that the patient having trust in you and feeling confident that you know what is best for them, is its own reward. When I was a little kid I always dreamed of becoming a nurse I would always be nurses on television taking care of people and making them smile one of my biggest passion is to become a nurse. During high school I got the option to take a certified nursing assistant class throughout the class because everything that we needed to know but my teacher was not very good throughout clinicals she would only tell us stuff one time and she would never explain it we had to always figure it out by ourselves. The course was very challenging and when it came time to take our certified nursing assistant exam I felt really unprepared. Although I would always read my book and study the sections that she told us to and I would do good on my test and quizzes
The accumulation of my work experience combined with my unrelenting desire to understand more leads me to pursue a graduate degree with UCF’s Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. Every step in my nursing journey has built upon the previous role with the intention of gaining the knowledge and clinical skill set necessary to become the most effective patient advocate. This graduate program can take the current knowledge to a deeper level, one where I can develop care plans of multiple care processes to optimize patient outcome. I know that a graduate education is an important step towards meeting my desire to participate in a more critical role in health
Since a child I was always held responsible for attending doctor 's appointments with my parents due to their language barrier. Surprisingly, I never felt that responsibility as a burden because hospitals intrigued me. The polar emotions of safety and fear simultaneously, fascinated me. With this awareness when I began taking science courses at North Shore Community College, I found that the subject also fascinated me. The components of liking the hospital and material, had led me to the realization that I had a calling for the medical field.
Isaiah Clements Period.3 Mrs.Vargas Registered Nurse When I was five years old I cut my finger while helping my mother make guacamole. My mother rushed me to the hospital because this wasn’t an ordinary cut, we got to the hospital I was frantically fussing until nurse Judy puts me at ease with a sucker. Ever since that day I have wanted to become a nurse. Throughout this research process and job shadow I hope to determine if I will be pursuing this career field after high school.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with my future. The constant pressure of dealing with teachers, parents and guidance counselors asking what I was planning on for a career was enough to seriously get me thinking. After hearing there were local CNA classes, I signed up for the first class I was able to take after turning the required age of sixteen. Numerous hours in my bedroom studying and memorizing vocabulary took up the majority of my free time after my high school classes. During the class,
Nursing wasn’t something I felt I wanted to do, but rather something I needed to do for myself, and others. Throughout visits to the hospital and health clinics, my contact with the nurses has been the most memorable. I have encountered many nurses; some who seemed to have tunnel vision, and others where his or her passion was evident from first contact. These individuals not only did his or her job well, but also inspired me. From there I did research about the profession, in addition to asking directly how different nurses liked his or her job.
Pursuing a career as a nurse has been my primary goal since I was a child. I have been doing a lot of things that would help me get in and do well in the field of nursing in every way possible. Due to the extensive amount of my academic and professional work experiences, I am assured that I can do better than most people with the same goal. There are so many high schoolers who do not really think about what they’re going to become until the last minute. Unlike them, I have decided to take as many health and science related classes as possible, that would help me increase my academic experiences and be ahead than most students.
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse I will be able to fulfill my passion of making a positive impact on individual lives on a daily basis. I will be able to fulfill my nurturing and caring desires of helping others. I’m very passionate and fascinated with the medical field in all aspects. I strive for excellence, integrity and love interacting with all diversity of people.
Helping others and impacting their life is just one tiny reason why I want to be a CNA. Working as one will never be a dull
These factors solidified my career choice of becoming a nurse. The nurses were the ones who give care and assistance to patients who were affected by a virus that they didn’t even know much about. However, they still stayed strong and risked their lives to assist people whose families and community abandon
