What’s missing from the typical kindergartener’s backpack? A gun. The ultimate solution to gun violence is more guns, isn’t that obvious? We are in need of guns everywhere to the point where our nation needs armed guards in every school. They say the more guns we have, the more gun violence there is, but in fact it does the complete opposite and solves gun violence. After the tragic and cold-hearted school killings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Newtown, Connecticut, 20 children and 6 adult staff members were fatally shot. The number of school shootings within the past few decades has risen dramatically, which is just not acceptable. How can anyone accept the thoughtless cruelty with these young precious lives being treated like they are replaceable? …show more content…
There’s no point in banning all sorts of guns at this point in time and everyone should know how to use this “self-defence” weapon efficiently. You can place a gun, a knife or a bat all side by side, none of them are going to do anything until someone picks them up to use them! The tragic shooting at Newtown reminded us not only of the need for gun control but also mental health support. From the day each individual graduates from this seven-day training period, every child will be required to carry assault rifles at all times of the day, whether it be in school, at the mall, or at home, in order to ensure the best protection. However, I am not an unreasonable person. A three year old cannot be expected to have the strength to carry an assault rifle at all hours of the day: therefore, up until the age of five years and six months, children may be permitted to carry pistols instead of rifles so it does no harm to their delicate backs. The failure to have a gun on yourself at all times of the day will be punished with a fine of $1,500 on the first offence, and a month in the jail upon the second offence. Keep guns out of the hands of criminals?
In order for citizens to buy guns, they must pass a background check, photo license I.D., and a gun safety test. All guns must have a mandatory child safety lock to prevent any injuries or death. In the U.S. alone, there are more than 10,00 gun homicides and more than 20,00 people are killed by firearms each year. My party finds that it is unlawful for kids age 3 to 10 to be given a handgun, whether it’s for hunting or protection. Children mostly in the age range of 5 to 14 are 17 times more likely to be murdered by firearms than children in other industrial nations.
According to Gun Violence Archive (GVA) “as of today there is a total of 27,645 of gun incidents in the United States, of this total, 7,151 are deaths, 14,749 injuries, 319 are children between the ages of 0 to 11 years old, 1,551 are teens between the ages of 12 to 17, 179 of this incidents correspond to a number of mass shootings, 171 are officers that were either killed or injured, 960 were individuals involved with crime, 1,160 due to home invasion, only 849 are use in defense and 1,179 correspond to accidental” (Gun Violence Archive, 1). Due to high numbers on statistics regarding gun violence a lot of people wonder if by giving the right to people to keep arms is keeping them safe or turning them into a menace to society. Some people believe that gun control will not deter crime and it will prevent citizens from protecting themselves. However, some other individuals believe that gun control will reduce gun
Everyone wants a safer community to live in, and keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people is the number one goal. The policies that have been proposed to accomplish this have been diverse and debated. Two sides have formed on a specific procedure to lower the gun violence: those who want age restrictions on guns to keep them out of the hands of the younger generation
School shootings are starting to become a norm in today 's world. This is something we can only take precautions for but, we cannot completely stop school shootings from happening. Banning guns is not the option because the shooters are still going to find a way to get their guns. We should not punish everybody for the stupidity of some people 's actions. "At Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado two teens went on a shooting spree on April 20, 1999, killing 13 people and wounding more than 20 others before turning their guns on themselves and committing suicide" (Columbine Shooting, 2018).
The problem with gun violence in schools has existed for years, and something should be done to eliminate the problem that endangers students who attend schools every day. One recent incident with gun violence in schools occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School where several young children were killed and many others injured (Elliott 529). Also, a bombing incident in 1927 killed thirty-seven children and was likely the start of school gun violence (Elliott 529). Children, who attend schools, sometimes do not feel safe because of the problem with gun
Gun Violence In America Gun violence in america accounted for 33,636 deaths in 2015 alone and that number is only rising. If every american was able to obtain a firearm imagine what the numbers of gun related deaths. Even gun related injuries caused many more hospital visits in america what many other common incidents. That is why america needs to implement tighter gun laws to reduce the amount of gun violence in America. Without this we will continue to see shooting, gun death, gun injuries resulting in more and more gun related violence.
Solutions can be made to help the problems with death by guns in the United States, this in term may fix the problems with the second amendment. One solution that may help the situation of the second amendment is the accessibility to certain guns .Many mass shootings include military-style weapons ,such as assault rifles, which are more powerful than normal guns and prove to be highly lethal. In an article by Infobase Learning called "Assault Weapons: Should the government restrict access to assault weapons?" done in 2016 it talks about what happened in the Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting it states, “...20-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed 26 people, including 20 children aged 6 and 7, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, before killing himself. Earlier in the day, Lanza had killed his mother, a gun enthusiast, and taken several of her assault weapons, which he used in his rampage.”
Informative Speech Going Out with a Bang General Purpose: To inform. Specific purpose: To inform my audience about the causes of school shootings in America. Central Idea: The main causes for school shootings are easy access to guns, mental instability and trauma. INTRODUCTION I. (Attention Getter)
I think it is clear that America’s lenient Gun Laws have no doubt been a huge factor on the staggering amount of gun violence for a long time. I do believe, however, in people’s rights to defend and arm themselves, it is part of their constitution, I just feel that it is necessary that the laws regarding the 2nd amendment need to be reinforced and should introduce some restrictions to ensure that only the people who are mentally capable of wielding a firearm, without causing harm to society, should be allowed to acquire one. I do also recognise that there are already a staggering number of guns in the possession of the general public, and I feel that the only way to tackle this issue is cultural change in America, changing the views of individuals on the idea of guns, but change is always
There were over 43,211 students arrested for dealing with guns. We have to get these guns out of kids hands and if we can’t, then make sure they can’t use them. The fact that so many kids have such easy access to guns proves that we do not have strict enough gun laws. When kids’ go through their teenage years their emotions are going all over the place, their bodies are changing so much so quickly.
A weapon in the wrongs hands is the maximum danger humanity can face. Nowadays, violence and delinquency in society are viewed as the maximum problem solver. Humanity is full of chaos; hate and envy seize our souls. Guns are the ultimate security for some citizens but for others, these add to a feeling of defenselessness. Throughout history, any topic related to guns means a plethora of problems.
People think that outlawing guns will lead to an ideally safe society. This idea of a gun-free utopia is absolutely false, as criminals will still gain access to them. Although it is true that the majority of guns used in crimes are stolen ones (Blow), there is no way to stop this from happening. Guns will always be part of society, whether people like it or not, and it is better to have an armed protected society than a defenseless unprotected one.
This paper also provides an interesting solution to gun violence; instead of already proven ineffective gun control laws, these authors suggest looking at why these laws are ineffective. Planty, Michael, and Jennifer
According to the National Rifle Association, "2.5 million guns are used for the sole purpose of self-defense"(procon.org). So, if gun control is enforced, it will make it more difficult for people to protect themselves. Like stated, it will leave law abiding citizens defenseless, and unable to protect their families when a criminal attacks. This is problematic, people should have the right to defend themselves. Also, when Wayne LaPierre of the National Rifle Association said," That the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun ' ' (Smith).
Problem Solution Paper 95% of people think that america needs stricter gun control laws, yet the amount of shootings in the past years has risen exponentially. Gun violence is a serious problem and the people of the United States have wanted to solve this problem this for a long time. If people feel scared to go to school (which should be a safe learning environment for all children and all ages) that is a problem, and it needs to be solved, or at the very least put in barriers to deal with the mental disabilities and amount of guns associated with this problem. There has been an exponential rise in shootings in America since the 20th century. In the 20th century there were 226 shootings, in the first 18 years of the 21st century there have been 211 shootings.
