“The Actions Taken to Reduce Gun Violence”
“Yes, people pull the trigger - but guns are the instrument of death. Gun control is necessary, and delay means more death and horror.” Guns are bringing too much horror to this world. Guns are being used to bring too much harm and they must be controlled.
There are new executive actions on gun control. “We’ve created a system in which dangerous people are allowed to play by a different set of rules.” “President Obama introduced a new group of executive actions to reduce gun violence.” Obama is doing all that he can do reduce gun violence. As a result of this Gun violence will be lowered to some extent.
Guns bring a lot of harm into this world. They can also be our protectors. That
In 2013 following the devastating Sandy Hook Elementary School and the Aurora movie theater shootings the Obama administration has a released a plan detailing the President’s plan to “reduce gun violence”. This plan explicitly states that the President strongly believes in the Second Amendment and it’s protection of the right to bear arms. The plan includes a mix of initiatives, executive actions and legislative actions that are preemptive – making it harder for firearms to fall into the wrong hands. This plan includes but not limited to extensive background checks, stronger bans on assault weapons, limitation of ammunition magazines to 10 rounds, getting rid of armor piercing bullets, initiating extensive research on gun violence and quality coverage of mental health treatment. Through this plan, President Obama aims to reach potential criminals early by incorporating education about gun violence into high school curriculum.
Should America Have Better Gun Control? Why do we keep waiting? It seems that our lives revolves around guns. Should we keep allowing this to continue? Over the course of history most deaths are caused by guns.
You know what they say, “A happy event never made a good headline.” With media-obsessed teens taking over, all they see are the bodacious, overbearing headlines that will always cause an uproar in different political views. In the treacherous recent events of our great country, we are in a time where the government has a lot of control over what we see. Whether you are Democratic or Republican or otherwise, we have all seen the effects that the media has taken on recent shootings. No matter what any news reporter or instagram influencer says, gun control is not and will never be the most effective way to solve or control crime.
What’s missing from the typical kindergartener’s backpack? A gun. The ultimate solution to gun violence is more guns, isn’t that obvious? We are in need of guns everywhere to the point where our nation needs armed guards in every school. They say the more guns we have, the more gun violence there is, but in fact it does the complete opposite and solves gun violence.
Because there has been a lot of violence lately, the world needs more peace. Many of people’s lives should not have been taken. The police are taking people’s lives, and the families are very hurt by it. Although there is many lighter-skinned people that have been shot by police, there have lately been more darker-skinned people shot by police. I think the world needs to get rid of gun violence.
A gun is made to be used at its full capability. Weapons are used also for protection over your family,(“A ban on assault weapons would not reduce crime”) also said, “ California 's murder rate increased every year for five years, twenty-six percent total. That is a perfect example of why some people feel the need to keep a gun or firearm in their homes, they are aware of the murder rate due to the media. People do not want to take a chance on someone hurting them so they feel the need to have one, witch is understandable because the murder rate has raised in the last 5 years there. You don’t want your firearm to not be able to be used to its maximum strength at a time if someone was to try to harm you, you would want it to be able to be used at its maximum strength to be able to protect you from harm.
The number one thing we understand from this is that completely ending the possibilities for mass murders will never occur. Now as a nation we must understand that proven facts show that gun control is not the right way to decrease the number of these crimes. Offering aid to this problem means that our political leaders and cabinets need to allow the civilian population to carry a firearm.
‘’Guns are responsible for over thirty-three thousand deaths in the United States annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).. In 2014, the CDC reported that 11,008 of the 15,872 homicides committed in the United States that year involved a firearm. Of the 42,826 suicides reported that year, 21,386 involved a firearm. These statistics have inspired efforts at the federal and state levels to enact gun control legislation to reduce crime and violence’’(‘’Gun Control’’). According to the statistic guns are held for over 33,000 deaths in the United States.
On, February 14, 2018, a mass school shooting in Florida got the nation’s attention, however, gun violence has always been an issue, and it is only getting worse. Now people are saying there needs to be something done, and there are many that agree. Starting off there should be stricter gun laws, because in today’s world it is too easy to get handguns and assault rifles. With, the capabilities a firearm holds, such as taking people’s lives there must be stricter restrictions that could help cut down the gun violence and save lives. Increasing the age of purchasing a firearm would be one step.
Gun Control Debate Jake Novak, in an article for CNBC titled, “Gun control isn’t the answer. We already know how to stop the violence,” gives his opinion regarding the controversial issue of gun control. Novak argues that gun control is not the answer to rising gun violence but that proper enforcement of the law would go a long way in reducing the cases of gun violence in America. He states, “We actually solved the issue of rising gun violence in America in the mid-1990’s and again in the early 2000’s by doing something radical. We enforced the law” (Novak 28).
Guns need to be strictly controlled to fulfill the promise that was made to all of us, protection under all
How to reduce gun violence " In the 1960's, there was one school shooting. In the 1980's, there were 27. In the 1990's, there were 58. In the past decade, there have been over 120" (Hoehn).
Everyday in the United States, ninety families are changed forever; guns claim an average of ninety lives every day in the United States, 33,000 lives in a single year. Gun control has been a debate in the United States for many years and is constantly thrusted back into the public’s attention by horrific shootings. These shootings constantly cause individuals to petition the government to place stricter and stricter regulations of guns. However, these policies cannot be the solution to this problem. To determine a solution that will be both effective and constitutional, we must look at statistics and research that has been conducted to determine the best course of action.
The number of incidents of gun violence last year in the United States was about 60,000. In recent years, the number of mass shooting has risen to about one mass shooting per day in the United States. The country is divided with some wanting to reevaluate our gun control laws and either ban or add additional regulations to the purchase of guns. Others say it is our right for Americans to own guns and something the founding fathers considered important to put in the Bill of Rights. The number of firearm sales has risen with the number of mass shooting many Americans question if banning guns or certain guns could help decrease the number of gun violence deaths.
While gun control laws do not stop criminals from stealing guns, if there were fewer guns to steal, criminals would not have illegally - obtained weapons; furthermore, victims rarely use guns for self-defense.
