I am committed to providing volunteer services to help empower African youths to ensure they are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but also change agents on the continent.
I believe wholeheartedly in the African Union Youth Volunteer Corps’ mission, and I would like to volunteer for this phenomenal organization. I believe that through the African Union Youth Volunteer Corps, I can make a positive contribution to the growth and development of Africa’s humanity. I would also like to have the chance to challenge myself mentally, emotionally, and physically, and I think volunteering with the African Union Youth Volunteer Corps will make that possible.

I know that being away from friends and family for over one year will be difficult emotionally but it is about my career goal of making positive in the lives of others. I know that I may face many complex challenges, which includes the possibility of learning a new culture and language and living in rural or slum communities. However difficult the challenges might be, I know that serving for the African Union Youth Volunteer Corps will positively change the lives of my fellow Africans forever, and I’m ready and prepare for those
Volunteer Recruiting and Development are also in a maturation
In the summer I volunteered at The Columbus Refugee and Immigration Services. The Columbus Refugee and Immigration Services is an organization where refugees and immigrants come to achieve successful integration into their new American communities. Refugees come here from places all around the world, such as Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Nepal, and Burma. They go through an immense amount of culture shock, but The Columbus Refugee and Immigration Services persistently helps relieve the struggles they may go through. As a volunteer, I helped in teaching the refugees how to speak, read, and write English, and I taught them basic tools they could use in the workforce, such as counting money, behavioral norms in the workplace, and computer skills.

My life has been like a roller coaster running on its tracks going through the twists and turns and the ups and downs. Much like a rollercoaster being guided along with the urge to keep pushing forward my life has been driven by three vigorous passions that burn deep within the pit of my soul: the significance of family, the desire to help others, and the exhilarating feeling of exploring new destinations. Families are like branches on a tree. We grow in different directions, but our roots remain as one. As the youngest of three children I’ve been able to learn from the mistakes of my older siblings to help contribute to my development as a young man.
.On any given day there will be a group of students working on their associates degrees that have been there long before I started to attend Wayne County Community College. They are a little older than I am, most being around the age of 23. They spend their time playing video games while I stand mind going to class. I consider this group to be friends but I am scared this is what my future will be like if I remain at this institution.
Over 32 schools watching your every single movement. Over 200 people watching whether or not you make a mistake and 5 judges grading you on precision and even creativity in some aspects. I would experience this almost every month during competition, but not until my 10th grade year. Right before high school my friend Oscar had convinced me to join JROTC and since I was planning on joining the service I thought it would be a good idea. The class had many after school teams such as rifle team, drill, and raiders.
Upon learning of the opportunity, I inspired my peers to volunteer 18 hours of our personal time to support the event. Furthermore, I initiated and led a joint-community project with the Warrant Officer Basic Course, donating funds a local charity specializing in assisting domestically abused victims.
I sincerely would love to be a part of the computer science program here at Texas A&M University and feel qualified with my background in computers and various programming languages. I have been working to be the best student I can for this program by participating in coding activities and competitions like Hack TAMU, Hack Texas, Code Red, and some others. Along with that, I have been attending informative seminars like the Google Tech Talks and Resume Workshops hosted here at A&M to learn and help pursue my career related goals in the future. Also, I have become more involved with the Aggie Computing Society to network and attended informative meetings. I feel that I have proven my knowledge, ability to code, and ability to problem solve
I have had the unforgettable opportunity to personally raise $1,400 for kids to go to summer camp, whose families could not afford it otherwise. I have worked at food drives, homeless shelters, and kid’s programs in my town, in hopes to make someone’s day a little bit better and ultimately make my community stronger. These experiences shaped who I am today. While I cherish the experience I had making a difference in my own town, I am ready to grow and leave a positive impact somewhere else in the country.
My experience in the volunteer world has given me the direction to see many views on the world we live in today. I have gone on a week-long mission trip 4 summers in a row and 5 out of the last 6 and it has become
In a society that embraces the advancement of scientific knowledge, my desire to contribute in the field of science is incredibly strong. Specifically, I am greatly interested in the micro-sciences, such as biochemistry and general chemistry. These academic programs focus on the building blocks of all living and nonliving material throughout the universe. This research offers me endless opportunities to make a positive difference.
Once planted, the crop just needs some rain and sunshine to grow”, Sammy Shannon once said. Once I am placed in Texas A&M Agriculture program, I’ll need some knowledge, some great teaching to grow and expand my knowledge of Agriculture. Texas A&M University, Aggies, is one of the best agricultural schools in the United States and will teach me new skills to help me become a better farmer. TAMU is located in College Station, Texas. The instate tuition is $8,506 while the outstate tuition is $25,126.
Besides my aspirations to study abroad, I hope to continue developing my passion for volunteering by leading an independent volunteering program for poverty-stricken families in my community at the College of Charleston. I intend to enhance not only myself, but my college and community by being a driven, involved
After taking care of my educational responsibilities and extra-curricular activities, I always find the time to involve myself in service-oriented activities. For example, during the last year, I completed 68 hours of community service. And, this year I hope to devote more hours to activities that will benefit my fellow students and my community. I have great plans in mind like organizing service trips, doing fund raisers, reserve one Saturday each month to community service to bring a smile to someone’s face. Additionally, this year the Interact members have selected me as a treasure for the school year 2015-2016; giving me the chance to use my leadership skills to provide a valuable service to my classmates.
In the first year, I was a part of a pioneering youth development team in Americorps NCCC Southwest Region. I worked with K-12 students in title one schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity, local non-profit organizations, The Red Cross and The Salvation Army. I spent my second year working with underserved youth as a volunteer coordinator for Reading Partners in DC. I learned about the struggles that the students I worked with dealt with every day. I was also able to interact with parents and provide resources for education, housing, food, and nutrition.
