Columbine Massacre Topic: Columbine Massacre Question: How did the Columbine Massacre affect people and school safety? Thesis: The Columbine High School Massacre happened on April 20,1999. The shooting prompted a national debate on gun control and school safety. The Columbine Massacre started on April 20, 1999 and two teens started shooting, killing 13 people and wounding 20 or more. 1 The shooting caused a debate on gun control and school safety. The two men were Eric Harris ,18 and Dylan Klebold, 17 who were being bullied and that caused them to do the shooting.2 The event of the columbine massacre affected the people nearest to those killed and disbelief that this could have been on school grounds. People didn’t care about gun control but after the massacre the people changed their thinking. 7 A democrat uses the columbine shooting to remind people what can happen when you let teenagers or other people use guns. America started to feel more comfortable with their kids going to school now that their is school safety and gun use is controlled. The shooting made the law change the guns and put safety locks on them. Some stores are ceased to sell firearms and ammunition. The Columbine Massacre affected many people and school safety. Schools have started a better environment and better education. They made a better environment by putting policies and cameras in halls.
