“I wanted to make a difference”. This thought of mine is the simple reason that I became a teacher. Though there are a lot of fields where I could choose, I knew teaching is the best field in which I can have a great impact. Teaching is a profession which requires compassion, patience, enthusiasm and understanding. I am currently working with ESL learners of age 12-15. I teach them English and French language. More than seven years of experiences in this field taught me how to interact with ESL learners and how to work with them on their language abilities. I always try different styles of teaching to meet different objectives and challenge myself to find the best ways to reach each of my students.
Throughout these years in this field, I’ve experienced different ways in which the

Here are some steps I follow to incorporate evidence-based practice which addresses the goals and objectives of my students. Firstly, before I choose the relevant strategy to conduct the lesson, I create individualized goals for each student. Next, I identify evidence-based teaching strategies to address the objectives. Once the most relevant and effective strategy has been identified, I start my teaching and explanations including step by step directions. During this process, I monitor the success of students individually to see whether any student needs further assistance in the certain area.
Research shows that evidence-based teaching strategies have a huge impact on students learning (Wilson et al.,2006). Student centered approach is a principal of communicative language teaching. This evidence-based practice involves engaging students actively in learning which are relevant to the classroom. In my class room, I use different methods to teach my diverse learners, in which they solve problems, formulate questions of their own, discuss things and explain by them during the
As a teacher, I am committed to give each of my students the right to receive help. Just because a student is having trouble pronouncing the English language I know that I shouldn’t talk down on them or ignore them because they are not grasping the language better than others. I am entitled to equally teach my students and find ways to help them better their learning. As a bilingual teacher, I will find programs or other activities that I know can help them, so that they can be successful.
For this week’s discussion post I will identify a situation where evidence-based practice has been applied in my workplace. Evidence-based guidelines are put in place and into practice after research has been completed. This helps with intertwining practice and research and are established by professional organizations, government agencies, institutions, or expert panels (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2014). These clinical guidelines give clinicians findings to help in the decision making process of diseases or treatments. In developing evidence-based practice, a clinical question must first be put into place.
INTRODUCTION: This contextual project consists of 10 concept from the block 1 study with the title “Research and Nursing Research”. The meaning of each concept will be clarified, critically analyzed and applied to social context, personal life and current professional life. The usefulness of the concept to the current world will also be explained.
Approaches that would be best for student whose primary language is not English would be the use student’s native languages to help solidify the concept they are learning and encourage it to be more concrete. In addition to using their native language to help understand difficult concepts, the use of real objects should be used to illustrate key concepts, and stimulate conversation to deepen their understanding of social, historic, and scientific concepts. Thought provoking small group lessons could also be incorporated to encourage them to use important educational and societal skills like the ability to explain, analyze and compare. In my opinion by providing ELL students with the same assignments as those who are English proficient in combination
This assignment has impacted my perspective on evidence-based practice by helping me build clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of difference diagnoses that will enables me to apply the most high-quality and appropriate intervention strategies that is proven effective in improve patient’s treatment outcome.
What is Evidence-based practice? Evidence-based practice is an all-around systematic approach to patient care that was built up on research and proven treatment results within nursing in order to increase the patient outcomes. Evidence based practice is define as “the integration of current evidences and practices to make decisions about patient care”. (Medical Surgical Nursing, 2018). Evidence-based practice not only includes the best proven research for practicing patient-centered care, but also merges the patient’s preferences and values into consideration.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.
My teaching philosophy stems from my belief that the gauge of a teacher 's success is how effectively the teacher prepares students, not only for present courses, but for their future professional careers. As a Nurse, I am committed to the nursing profession and I chose nursing since; nurses have the chance to a life changing event to every patient. Nurses promote Health Education, Healing and Prevention of Illness, as well as performing end of life care through a dignified death. I chose to be a nurse because I wanted to contribute to humanity, to feel that the world was in some small way, better because I was a part of it.
This job really taught me about the importance of children having a routine to follow as well as the impact teachers can have on a child’s life. After my first year in college, I realized that I wanted to gain more experience with children of all ages. Shortly after,
All skills apart from the academic ones which are important to being a good teacher and demonstrates my willingness to go the extra mile. Studying and working in education has shown me that it is a challenging and rewarding career, but I believe my track record of dedication and hard work in both elements suggests that I can meet its demands. My commitment to providing a first-rate education for any child has seen me strive to gain as many additionally useful skills as
ENSURING EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CONCEPT Evidence base practice can be defined as the integration of clinical experience and skills, patient values and best research evidence into decision making process for patients’ care (Saclett D, 2002) The integration of the three elements into decision making process enables the practitioner a better opportunity for enhanced clinical outcome and improved quality of life. Evidence alone is not enough in decision making hence the integration of the three elements. In order to ensure effective public health programme the practitioner must ensure that every decision made is evidence based.
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
(1) Develop a strategy to enhance a high degree of collective efficacy among the new teachers and indifferents. What mastery experiences are needed, and how will you get them for your teachers? What kinds of models or other vicarious experiences should your teachers have, and where will they get them? What kind of activities will be useful to persuade teachers that they can improve the proficiency of their students? What kind of affective state is needed in your school to develop the collective efficacy that you need?
In this assignment, I will be writing on how to apply the principles of pedagogy in my area of specialism. Effective teacher uses diverse teaching strategies and universal approaches that suit situations, different strategies in different grouping of learners to improve learning outcomes, There are different teaching styles that suit different learners backgrounds and ability. Teachers are ldentified in their profession as ‘learning specialist’ , and there are five principles of good pedagogy which are Motivation, Exposition, Direction of activity and Inviting imitation. Andragogy is the best approach for effective delivery and pedagogy, both approaches must be used to ensure effective delivery. The principle is the idea of the curriculum and requirement of my subject area, I adopted pedagogy and andragogy that learners will understand The word motivation preceeds teaching at all times the teacher is preparing for delivery of effective and engaging instructional process.
First, let me tell you I had never wanted to be a teacher since in my opinion, being a teacher was boring and dealing with students was stressing; I got into Teaching School by accident, but once I started I found out that Teaching ESL is challenging, but the rewards outweigh the costs. I have been an ESL teacher for more than 32 years, and have enjoyed the teaching process as well as the learning process. I know for sure that teachers have an impact on others instantly. As a teacher, you can help others and sometimes that impact is so big that helps them change their lives.
