The Topic of my speech was: "I'm sick and tired of Competitive Fans at sporting events."
I was determined to be prepared for my first speech so I decided to start writing my speech a week earlier. By doing this it helped me in a huge way. I had time to make adjustments by using the correct words and even adding a scenario that would hopefully give the audience an idea of how I came up with the subject. This also gave me time to memorize my speech and put more emotion into it, that way I can show my audience I was serious about my subject. Once I found out about the topic of my speech, I knew exactly what I wanted to talk about. The night before I checked on my assignment was actually the night I based my speech on. I sat beside my friend

Yes, basketball is a competitive sport but why does it make people do irrational things? My experience really helped me and I knew I could explain my opinion easily. I was very nervous while doing this speech, not only because I was worried about the mistakes I could make but also over my wording or if I would offend someone. I am not a public speaker, but being in FFA has helped me with my delivery of the speech, but I knew I could still use some practice with these aspects.
My strengths would include my posture, eye contact, and volume. Even though I may feel accomplished on my volume at the moment, I know I can still work on it and attract more attention. Being nervous, I was too afraid to use different pitches, but I know that in my next speech it is a main aspect I should follow. Volume is one of the main things to gain an audiences attention, but another

For one, I usually speak in a fast pace but when I'm nervous, I speak even faster. So one of my thoughts was to write more into my speech, that way I could stay with in the time limit. Then I realized that just adding more words would make me speak faster because I would be worried over not finishing due to the excessive amount of writing. The way I solved this problem was by actually going over my speech several times, but reading at a slower pace. So when I actually present the speech, I would get used to the slower pace. Then, my audience could understand my speech without being confused in the overall subject. Being nervous before a speech is totally normal but the best way to help is by taking a few deep breaths and slowing
My strongest attribute is being able to work well in a team and taking lead if needs be. I am very confident in speaking, presenting and asking/answering questions in lectures.
Giving a speech whether being for the public or not, offers personal, professional, and public benefits for the individual. The individual might find it easier to obtain a profession, build better relationships amongst peers, or even propel social movements by carefully constructing and delivering a well thought out speech. A speech needs to be excellent in order to do such things; it needs to have a clear concise thesis, a preview statement, a great organizational pattern, supporting material, memory, delivery and good representation of oneself. Thus, during the process of constructing and delivering a speech, one must have those aspects. This will ensure the speaker will deliver a powerful and moving speech.
Attention First and foremost, for deliver the speech speaker need to gain the attention of the audience since if we do not have their attention we can not persuade the audience ,speaker can grabs the audience’s attention and orients them to the issue use a humorous or dramatic story, a question, a quotation, a startling statement, etc. For example, in a speech designed to get the audience to concerning about the obesity from unhealthy food ,Jamie Oliver open the speech by using a dramatic opening “Sadly, in the next 18 minutes when I do our chat, four Americans that are alive will be dead from the food that they eat.” Jamie grabs the audience attention by questioning how in short time four people can die from the food they eat. 2.
After being chosen as the President of National Honor Society, the most active club at my school, one of my duties was inducting the new members each year. I remember the butterflies in my stomach as I looked out at all the NHS members and their parents sitting in the huge auditorium. My principal and head of school were both keenly listening to me speak as I prayed not to stutter on any words. However, with every word that left my mouth, I felt my level of confidence rising. After finishing off strong and hearing the roar of applause, I realized that effective public speaking is a vital leadership skill that I definitely
In my speech I discussed smoothie. I wanted to accomplish the goal of conveying to the audience that smoothie can be a nutrient-dense, on the go meal while providing the body with vitamins and mineral necessary for proper nutrition. I wanted to continue to work on having my speech sound more casual, not rehearsed and also try speaking at a slower rate Along with that; I wanted to continue not to let my nerves get the better of me. Before my speech, I was extremely engaged in the speaker that went before me.
Being confident shows your audience you are comfortable talking about your topic and that you are well informed on what you are specking of. Another thing that I can improve on is relaxing, for example, to not be so nervous. If I can think two steps ahead before I speak it would prepare me for what I am about to say which will allow my words to flow out smoothly and correctly. I plan on improving these skills by practicing more speeches in front of people and doing some relaxation exercises before my speech. I believe by implementing more speeches and doing some of the exercises, it will have me more relaxed, keep my mind focused and boost up my confidence so that I may present my speech flawlessly for an A plus grade.
I will practice more to gain confidence before giving any speech. It will help me to deliver any speech with more confidence and less stress. Practicing in front of the mirror is one of the ways that helps me to reduce my stress level. Thus, I will remember to look at the audience while speaking instead of looking down in the notes.
After asking others about how they would rank the set of capacities listed above, I learned my strengths and weaknesses. My strengths include empathy and the ability to inspire trust as well as meaning, creativity, and the passion for the mission of the organization. My weaknesses include taking the initiative, intellect, and play. There are many things that I can do to further strengthen my strengths. My strongest strength is empathy and the ability to inspire trust.
The audience that this ted talk is written for is people who are not very good in public speaking and want to know some tips and tricks. If you are yourself a very good public speaker and you know the techniques that are being used, this ted talk will be then just old news. How to be a great public speaker Do you feel nervous when you have to speak in front of an audience?
Good listener: The ability to listen when others are talking is another strength that I
Competitive sports provide a community which kids can work with and beat other teams with. “Playing a sport helps children develop social skills which would benefit them even when they grow older. Playing sports teaches them about teamwork and cooperating with others. They learn to interact with people from different ages” (Mahaseth). When these kids grow up, they can use these skills to be able to cooperate and talk with their colleagues.
The speech presented by Megan Washington concerns the issue of the experience that the people who stutter have to get through. On her own example, she shows how easy it might be to cope with the problems arising during the public speaking. She tells about three ways how she could avoid revealing her problem, and all of them might be useful when presenting something before the large audience. With regard to this, the speaker tells that it is essential to overcome the fear of public speaking to become a successful speaker.
Impromptu speech occurs at all times throughout the day. It could occur during a class lecture, in a work meeting, and even in a conversation between friends (DeVito, 2012). Manuscript speech is exactly what it sounds; your entire speech is written out for you and you present every word verbatim, exactly as they are written (DeVito, 2012). The benefits of this type of speech include knowing exactly what you are going to say, without the possibility of forgetting any major points or stumbling during your speech (DeVito, 2012). It could save someone who has public speaking fears and tend to forget what
As students, presentations are something that is required in most classes yet, students do not see themselves as public speakers. Throughout high school and now in college, I have had to present material in 80 percent of the classes that I have taken. Presenting was, and still is something that I struggle with no matter how big or how small the group is that I am presenting to. I knew that Public Speaking was a required class for me so, rather than putting it off, I decided to go ahead and get it out of the was as soon as possible. Speaking in front of people is out of my comfort zone.
Strengths: As a student one of my strengths is organization. I can say I can keep my school materials and notebooks organized in a way that I and others can comprehend. The reason I can say I am organized is because, I have hardly ever had in the past or present any issues with trying to find homework or assignments because I always kept my materials for each class organized and in a place I could easily find. Another strength I have is social skills. I can believe that I communicate with others well in a group.
