My musical involvement has also shown me that hard work and practice can make anything
I have been informed that I was not selected to be a member of the National Honor Society. I would like to respectfully disagree with this decision. Being in the National Honor Society means a lot to me, and I would first like to thank you for considering me as an applicant and for also taking this time to listen to my defense. The main problem with my application was a lack of community service.

I am extremely honored to be eligible for this opportunity to apply for the National Honor Society. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society has been a goal I set for myself since I was a student in middle school. I have been greatly looking forward to this moment for a very long time. I strongly believe I will be a productive and reliable member of the National Honor Society at Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School.
Moreover, I have worked very hard throughout high school to better myself and those around me in the many ways mentioned above. High school is one of the greatest pivotal times in a human's life. It is where young adults are able to form their own opinions on the world, find activities they are passionate about, and learn to create fruitful relationships with their peers and teachers. However, I did not initially view high school as a period of time for growth and development. Instead, I saw it simply as another task to complete before I entered the real world. I did not take advantage of all the opportunities around me and I began to find school to be institutionalized or meaningless.
I also joined the school band every year. We played winter concerts, spring concerts and also got a chance to perform at the Canada 's Wonderland Theatre and the Living Arts Centre. Last but not least, I joined the Diversity Club. In this team, we held many events that represented how diverse our school. We held events such as Asian Heritage Month and Black History Month.
I am ready to board the ship, and set sail – pointing towards a bright future of being an ECU pirate. Being admitted into the Honors College at ECU would be the catalyst to a successful future. As a high school senior, I am considering many universities and believe that being apart of the ECU community would allow me to reach my full potential. Growing up I have always set high standards for myself academically and extracurricularly. I participate in many clubs at my school including BETA club and National Honor Society.
