When growing up with a parent in the military, home has a different meaning. To me, home was considered a temporary place to stay for a few months. Home could be a rundown apartment for one month and government housing the next. Living on base meant that my home was subject to, although a rare occurrence, random searches. A home on base meant strict regulations.
Trust is a key component in any sport; for example, in football, the quarterback has to trust his lineman, his receivers, and his running back, that they will help him to not get hit and to help him win them the game. Trust is also a major key in relationships with friends and with a significant other. In a relationship, one person must trust the other because they could be put in a situation where they need to rely on one another. With trust being a very strong base, strength and the component of loyalty will be added to any relationship. In my own life, I have seen and experienced how much trust can positively impact a relationship.
Informing Soldiers that their commitment to volunteering to serve in the Army serves a higher purpose and that their day to day contributions are valued and affect the Army as a whole lets them have a sense of well-being and every individual has a much-needed purpose that drives the overall success of the mission. Soldiers serving in the Human Resources field need to understand the importance of their profession and how it affects the moral and individual’s careers. Processing leave, producing awards, conducting mail operations, and updating Soldiers records are some examples that have a positive impact on the moral and career opportunities of other individuals as well as themselves.

When a soldier joins the military, he isn’t just joining to fight for his country, he’s joining a brotherhood that lasts forever. Throughout the course of history, soldiers have encountered inexplicable experiences. These experiences are so traumatic that they cause a life full of hardship. Fortunately, they are not alone. Soldiers in the armed forces share common similarities such as: adapting to civilian life, going through failed marriages, and forming a bond with one another.
Prior to starting college I served in the United States Army for around 5 years, where I gained most of my professional experience. As I’m sure one can imagine, military culture is slightly different than the typical professional environment, which results in professional expectations that are unique to the military. For example, military leaders are expected to act as supervisors and delegators of tasks. Military leaders are not expected to be involved in the work themselves, and in some cases, working alongside a lower enlisted soldier may even be considered inappropriate. My story involves a military leader, Sergeant K (SGT K), who not only refused to work alongside his soldiers, but failed to supervise the soldiers as they worked.
